  • Patent number: 5570605
Abstract: A bearing support frame (4) is disposed within a rear end portion of a tractor front housing (1) and is fixedly supported by this housing which has an internal partition wall (1a) and an open rear end. A transmission casing (2) having an open front end is fastened to the rear of the front housing and includes a primary speed change mechanism (14) which is disposed between a drive shaft (12) and change shaft (13). These shafts are supported at their front end portions by the support frame and extend forwardly of this frame. An additional speed change mechanism (9) is disposed within a rear half of the front housing and comprises a primary shaft (7), rotatable output member (10) and countershaft (11). The output member is fixedly mounted on a front end portion of the drive shaft, and a rear end portion of the countershaft is journaled by a front end portion of the change shaft.

  • Patent number: 5058459
Abstract: An auxiliary speed change mechanism (10) disposed within a rear portion of a tractor clutch housing (1) is supported by a support frame (11) comprising axially spaced front and rear bearing support plate members (11a, 11b) which are integrally connected by upper and lower connecting plate members (11c, 11d). The change mechanism includes two sets of constant-mesh gears (8, 9, 12, 13) and is operated by a shifter fork (17) which is supported by the support frame through a guide shaft (16). This structure facilitates an easy pre-assembling procedure of the change mechanism which is then installed into the tractor by securing the support frame to a front of a transmission casing (3) to be secured to the rear of the clutch housing. An integral, internal partition wall (1a) is provided in the clutch housing for interrupting lubricant oil for the change mechanism from a main clutch (2) which is disposed within a front end portion of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5058455
Abstract: A bearing support frame (10) is disposed within a rear end portion of a tractor front housing (1) having an open rear end. The frame is secured to internal boss (2c) on a transmission casing (1), which is fastened to the rear of the front housing and has an open front end, and is used for supporting respective one ends of transmission shafts (4, 5, 7, 8) for both of an additional speed change mechanism (6), which is disposed within a rear half of the front housing, and a main speed change mechanism (9) which is disposed within a front half of the transmission casing. An intermediate shaft (17) interposed between the additional and main change mechanisms is also supported by the support frame. The support frame which is preferably composed of front and rear bearing support plates (10A, 10B) facilitates an easy assembly of the change mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 4896487
Abstract: In a self-propelled walking mower having a deck as a machine frame for supporting an engine, mowing cutter and front wheels, a transaxle-type transmission for driving rear wheels is housed at a rear end portion of the deck in a transmission casing an upper half of which is provided by a portion of top wall of the deck and by a peripheral wall which is formed integrally with the deck and projected downwardly from the top wall of deck. The transmission may be assembled in a lower half of the transmission casing, or alternatively in the upper half, and then the two casing halves may be secured together for completing an essential part of the mower drive system. The upper casing half integral with the deck contributes not only to an easy assemblage of the drive system but also to a reduction of weight and size of the mower.

  • Patent number: 4841794
Abstract: Within a transmission casing (3) having therein a drive shaft (4), driven by an engine (1) through a main clutch (2), and a hollow speed-change shaft (5), a key-shift transmission mechanism (8) is disposed which comprises a plurality of meshing gears (9I-9V, 10I-10V) mounted respectively on the drive and change shafts. An axle (6) drivingly connected to left and right drive wheels (7) extends through the hollow change shaft. One end of the change shaft is spaced from an inner wall surface of the transmission casing for disposing therebetween an auxiliary clutch (13) which is operable between the change shaft and axle. Both of the main and auxiliary clutches are operated together. The transmission mechanism is provided for a plurality of variable speeds of a mower in a compact fashion owing to a co-axial arrangement of the hollow change shaft and the axle passing therethrough.

  • Patent number: 4613024
Abstract: A transmission shaft (62) mounting thereon fluid-operated clutch means (68) which discontinues selectively the input of power to such shaft is enclosed at one end portion thereof by a hollow cylinder (86) projected inwardly from an inner wall surface of transmission case (28) for power transmission. An annular groove (89) formed to said one end portion of shaft (62) at the outer peripheral surface thereof and communicated to the clutch means (68) via fluid path (85) in the shaft (62) is sealed by the hollow cylinder (86) so as to form an annular fluid chamber (90) which constitutes a rotary joint portion of fluid conduit line for the clutch means (68). Braking mechanism of a brake (69) associated with the clutch means (69) for braking the shaft (62) in the non-operated state of clutch is arranged within the hollow cylinder (86) by employing such cylinder as brake case.

  • Patent number: 4579183
Abstract: Transmission for working vehicles having forcedly driven rear wheels (2) as well as rear-PTO shaft (17) and mid-PTO shaft (19) for driving working implements is disclosed. The transmission includes a hydrostatic transmission (7) fixedly provided on the front of transmission case (8) so as to use pump shaft (23) thereof for the input of working implement-driving power at a high level into transmission case (8) from which the rear-PTO shaft (17) extends backwardly at a middle level and so as to permit a low level arrangement of the mid-PTO shaft (19). Within the transmission case (8), clutch means (31, 36) and speed-change means (32) for PTO-line are arranged at an upper half whereas speed-change gearing (43) and differential gearing (44) for vehicle drive line are arranged at a lower half by employing motor shaft (22) of the hydrostatic transmission as input shaft. A compact arrangement of transmission components is achieved so that transmission case (8) may be reduced in length as well as in weight.
