  • Patent number: 4639379
Abstract: The invention provides a very efficient method for the improvement of the antistatic performance, e.g. decrease in the accumulation of static electricity on the surface and decrease in the surface resistivity, of a synthetic resin shaped article with outstanding durability of the effect. The method comprises two steps in principle, first of which is the formation of a crosslinked layer in the surface portion of the shaped article by a variety of known methods effective for the formation of crosslinks in polymeric materials and the second of which is the exposure of the thus crosslinked surface of the article to low temperature plasma produced in an atmosphere containing a gaseous silicon-containing compound which may be a silane compound or a low-molecular weight vaporizable siloxane compound to form a plasma-polymerized surface film of the silicon compound on the crosslinked layer.

  • Patent number: 4619897
Abstract: A fluorine resin membrane is made hydrophilic to a prescribed depth in the direction of thickness thereof to produce an asymmetrical membrane having a hydrophilic portion and a hydrophobic portion. An enzyme is immobilized in the hydrophilic portion of the membrane to obtain a membrane having a function of enzymatic reaction and a function of selective gas permeation. The hydrophilic portion is formed by causing a perfluoroalkyl surface active agent to penetrate the prescribed depth that is to be hydrophilic.

  • Patent number: 4520162
Abstract: The novel polymeric compound proposed in the invention has a backbone structure formed of a copolymeric moiety of maleic anhydride and divinyl ether and pendant groups thereon derived from an anthracycline-type anti-tumor agent, e.g. adriamycin and daunomycin, or 1-.beta.-D-arabinofuranosylcytosine bonded to the maleic anhydride units in the backbone structure by forming amide linkages, the remaining anhydride units in the backbone structure being hydrolyzed into free acid form or a salt thereof. Both in vitro and in vivo tests indicate that the anti-tumor active pendant groups in the polymeric compound can be released sustainedly to exhibit the anti-tumor activity with greatly decreased side effects unavoidable when the above mentioned anti-tumor agents as such are administrated to a patient in a relatively large dose.

  • Patent number: 4432802
Abstract: An inclusion compound-containing composite comprises a container formed of a permeable membrane and an inclusion compound holding therein an active component and enclosed with the container. Through the membrane of the container, the composite releases the active component slowly and continuously over a long time.

  • Patent number: 4367369
Abstract: A solar battery is formed by forming a film of a specific merocyanine dye on an n-type semiconductor substrate thereby producing a p-n junction in the interface between the dye film and the semiconductor substrate and connecting electrodes one each to the two layers.
