  • Publication number: 20230085223
Abstract: The present invention provides a sugar-restricted, high-fat diet for improving liver disease. In the sugar-restricted, high-fat diet, daily fat intake may be set at 120 g or more based on a real body weight of 50 kg or set at an amount corresponding to 70% or more of the total daily energy intake. The sugar-restricted, high-fat diet can reduce body fat mass and AST, ALT, and ?-GTP levels in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease patients.

  • Publication number: 20220346427
Abstract: The present invention provides a sugar-restricted, high-fat diet for improving chronic kidney disease. In the sugar-restricted, high-fat diet, daily fat intake may be set at 120 g or more based on a real body weight of 50 kg or set at an amount corresponding to 70% or more of the total daily energy intake. The sugar-restricted, high-fat diet can increase glomerular filtration rate and reduce blood creatinine level in chronic kidney disease patients.

  • Publication number: 20220283181
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a method for predicting prognosis for a cancer patient. The present invention provides a method for predicting prognosis for a cancer patient, wherein at least one index selected from the group consisting of an index of nutritional state, an index of sugar metabolism state, and an index of inflammatory state in the cancer patient is used as an index of prognosis. The index of nutritional state is preferably a concentration of albumin in the blood, the index of sugar metabolism state is preferably a concentration of glucose in the blood, and the index of inflammatory state is preferably a concentration of CRP in the blood.

  • Publication number: 20200217838
Abstract: A method for selecting a cancer patient for whom a ketogenic diet therapy would be effective and a method for predicting efficacy of a ketogenic diet therapy in a cancer patient are provided. A method is characterized by obtaining a result of analysis of at least one pre-intake candidate substance selected from the group consisting of acylcarnitine(12:0), acylcarnitine(12:1)-2, acylcarnitine(12:1)-3, acylcarnitine(14:1)-1, acylcarnitine(14:2)-1, acylcarnitine(14:2)-2, acylcarnitine(14:3)-2, acylcarnitine(16:1), acylcarnitine(16:2), anandamide, heptadecenoic acid, hypotaurine, linoleylethanolamide, palmitoleic acid, palmitoylcarnitine, phytosphingosine, quinic acid, uric acid, alanine, citrulline, tryptophan and lysine in a serum derived from a cancer patient prior to intake of a ketogenic diet, and using the result of analysis as an indicator.

  • Patent number: 10675262
Abstract: The invention provides new compositions or combinations thereof for the treatment of cancer. More specifically, the invention provides compositions or combinations thereof for cancer treatment including a high-fat diet. Specifically, the high-fat diet is characterized by having approximately 120 g/day or more, or approximately 70% or more of the total daily energy, from fat, based on a real body weight of 50 kg. The diet is preferably a carbohydrate-restricted high-fat diet, and more preferably provided by a ketone formula and/or MCT oil. The dietary therapy by a high-fat diet of the present invention is provided along with surgical treatment, chemotherapy or radiation therapy, or combinations thereof.

  • Publication number: 20200147112
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a diet therapy for suppressing tumor growth of refractory cancer, for treating refractory cancer, or for enhancing the effect of another cancer treatment. The present invention provides a saccharide restricted high fat composition for use in suppressing tumor growth of refractory cancer, treating refractory cancer and/or enhancing the effect of another cancer treatment. The composition of the present invention can comprise about 55% by mass or more of fat based on the total solid content contained in the composition. The composition of the present invention can also comprise about 0% by mass to about 15% by mass of saccharide based on the total solid content contained in the composition. The composition of the present invention can also comprise a medium chain fatty acid oil as fat.
