    Abstract: A welding process is related to a steel material of a container for liquid ammonia. The process includes forming a welded metal portion at a side of the steel material. The side is configured to be in contact with the liquid ammonia. In the forming the welded metal portion, a heat-affected zone is formed in the steel material at a position adjacent to the welded metal portion. The steel material is made of carbon steel or low-alloy steel. The welded metal portion is formed so that a Vickers hardness of the heat-affected zone becomes 280 HV or less.
