The diffuser 30 has a main surface portion 31, leg piece portions 32 extending in four radiating directions, and flap portions 34. The main surface portion 31 covers a head side of the inflator 3. The leg piece portion 32 passes through a mounting ring 20 and an inflator opening 12 and passes between the retainer 10 and a flange portion 3b of the inflator 3. A bolt 21 of the mounting ring 20 is inserted through a small hole 33 of the leg piece portion 32.

The diffuser 30 has a flange portion 31 which has a center opening 32 provided at the center thereof, and a side wall SW which rises from the peripheral edge of the center opening 32 and surrounds the side peripheral surface of the body of the inflator 3. The side wall SW includes a first side wall portion 34 and a second side wall portion 35 which is higher than the first side wall portion 34. The distal end of the second side wall portion 35 reaches up to a gas ejection opening 3d in the inflator 3.

The retainer 3 is centered in a width direction by fitting the first hook 31 in the recess 42, and the side wall portion 41 is clamped in a standing direction by the first hook 31 and the second hooks 32 by contacting the first hook 31 with the recess 42 and contacting the second hooks 32 with the retaining holes 43.

The downwardly extending curved edge at the lower part has a curvature greater than that of the upwardly extending curved edge at the upper part.

    Abstract: An airbag cover for maintaining a folded shape of an airbag when the airbag is folded and accommodated within a casing, is designed to bulge from an opening formed on a panel constituting a vehicle inner wall for deploying between the panel and an occupant. The airbag cover includes a flat structure for covering at least a side of the airbag facing the opening before a deployment, and a tear line located on the flat structure and facing the opening so as to allow the airbag to bulge from the opening when deployed by cleaving the flat structure. The tear line is located on a side closer to the occupant relative to a center of the airbag cover in a direction of a vehicle length.
