  • Publication number: 20100282960
Abstract: Systems and methods for imaging and chemically identifying contraband are described. In one aspect, a method is provided for locating and identifying contraband on a subject. The method includes scanning the subject using a plurality of imaging sensors to collect radiometric data, collecting chemical data from chemical vapors and particles located on and/or near the subject using a trace-detection sensor, and fusing the collected radiometric data and the collected chemical data to generate at least one of a location of the contraband and a probability of a chemical composition of the contraband.

  • Publication number: 20090000207
Abstract: A sealing mechanism for sealing an entrance aperture includes a flange with an interface defining an entrance aperture. A first drive shaft and a second drive shaft are coupled to a first drive element. A first linear rail is positioned on a first side of the entrance aperture. A first door linkage is pivotally coupled to a door, and coupled to the first linear rail and to the first drive element. A first pivoting cam is coupled to the first door linkage. A first cam latch is positioned on the first side of the entrance aperture and sized to receive the first pivoting cam. Contact between the first cam latch and the first cam urges the door inwardly at an angle relative to a direction of movement of the door to urge the door to contact an outer edge of the interface defining the entrance aperture.

  • Patent number: 7358733
Abstract: An inspection system includes a housing having a cavity which defines an inspection zone, and a positioning device within the inspection zone which provides positioning of a specimen within the inspection zone. The inspection system includes a sensor system for inspecting the specimen, and an entrance aperture formed in the housing. The entrance aperture may be sized to permit the specimen to pass through the entrance aperture. The inspection system also includes a sealing mechanism, such as a door, which cooperates with the positioning device. The sealing mechanism is operatively coupled to the housing and selectively positionable between open and closed positions. The open position permits the specimen to pass through the entrance aperture, and the closed position seals the entrance aperture to effectively isolate the inspection system.

  • Patent number: 6601855
Abstract: A universal joint seal for retaining lubricant therein. The seal cooperates to form a static seal with the trunnion and a static seal with the bearing cup and permits relative angular movement between the trunnion and bearing cup through a flexible web portion. The seal optionally permits venting of pressure within the grease cavity formed between the trunnion and bearing cup. The seal also has a passage communicating with the grease cavity. The seal has an outward facing lip seal that provides a fluid barrier to the migration of lubricant out of the passage. In response to a moderate pressure level within the grease cavity, the lip moves away from the contacting surface so as to vent the moderate pressure within the grease cavity out of the sealed region and to prevent an excessive pressure differential from developing across the lip. Several alternate embodiments permitting venting of pressure from the grease cavity are disclosed.
