  • Publication number: 20170260368
Abstract: A liquid organotin heat stabilizer for clear, opaque and/or colored calendered rigid Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) comprising octyltin mercaptide and methyltin mercaptide. Octyltin mercaptide is used to develop good early color in a clear, opaque or colored calendered rigid PVC film application. Methyltin mercaptide is used to improve the long term heat stability (reduced burning) of the clear, opaque or colored rigid calendered PVC films. Ranges from 50% to 75% octyltin mercaptide, and from 50% to 25% methyltin mercaptide have application. Preferred ranges are 60% to 64% octyltin mercaptide and 40% to 36% methyltin mercaptide. Most preferred is 62% octyltin mercaptide and 38% methyltin mercaptide.

  • Patent number: 5536767
Abstract: A zinc mercaptoacid ester of a polyhydric alcohol or ether, carboxylate, or ether-carboxylate thereof having at least one functional hydroxy group are improved heat stabilizers for halogen-containing polymer compositions. The phenomenon known as zinc burn during processing of such compositions is eliminated. Zinc bis-thioglycolates, zinc mercaptopropionates and zinc bis-mercaptosuccinates of glycols, glycerol, glycol ethers, glycol carboxylates, and glycerol carboyxlates exemplify the new class of heat stabilizers.

  • Patent number: 5332772
Abstract: The preparation of a zinc mercaptoacid ester by the reaction of zinc oxide with the mercaptoacid ester in a wax matrix provides an improved heat stabilizer for halogen-containing polymer compositions. The process obviates the necessity of isolating and transporting the normally very viscous zinc mercaptoacid esters. The zinc mercaptoacid ester/wax matrix is also an expedient medium for the preparation and utilization of calcium stearate as a lubricant in the heat stabilizer composition and the stabilized polymer composition containing it. A paraffin wax is the preferred matrix for the preparation and use of the heat stabilizer and lubricant.

  • Patent number: 5078892
Abstract: Phenol and alkyl substituted phenols of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen or alkyl of from 1 to about 20 carbon atoms which significantly reduce the viscosity of and metal salt precipitation from liquid lubricating stabilizer compositions and unexpectedly improve the heat stability of such liquid lubricating and stabilizing compositions.

  • Patent number: 4711920
Abstract: Compositions for stabilizing halogen-containing organic polymers against the deteriorative effects of heat, light and weathering and which are non-irritating to eyes and mucous membranes, comprise the reaction product produced by combining an organotin oxide, an ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid ester and a mercaptan, wherein the chemical equivalence of the mercaptan is less than the chemical equivalence of the diorganotin oxide and the chemical equivalence of the diorganotin oxide is less than the chemical equivalence of the ester compound.
