Patent number: 7400720Abstract: A method is provided that can be used for modifying a control parameter associated with a digital subscriber line (DSL) service. Initially, a real-time performance parameter is received from a first termination unit that is coupled to an DSL circuit. The real-time performance parameter is measured at the termination unit after the termination unit is provisioned and after the DSL circuit is placed in-service. A value of a control parameter associated with the DSL circuit can be modified based on the measured real-time performance parameter. Further, activity over the DSL circuit can be monitored in real-time and when usage of the DSL circuit is below a threshold, the provisionable service parameter that corresponds to the control parameter is modified. Moreover, a first re-provisioning cycle between the first termination unit and a second termination unit coupled to the DSL circuit can be initiated using the provisionable service parameter.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2004Date of Patent: July 15, 2008Assignee: SBC Knowledge Ventures, L.P.Inventors: Raghvendra G. Savoor, George Keith Cambron, John Porter Van Slyke

Patent number: 7180854Abstract: A modular, reconfigurable, intelligent signal multiplexer for telecommunications purposes includes multiple feature cards. Each feature card contains an embedded microprocessor with associated RAM memory and flash ROM. The signal multiplexer processes digital inputs from a wide range of user equipment for transmission over digital facilities, including T1 and T3 lines. The system employs an Advanced Intelligent Multiplexer Network software package to perform network configuration and the establishment of maps. The maps including alternate maps, which in an embodiment include time-of-day-specific alternate routes. The functions of the signal multiplexers of a network are controlled by a mapping scheme. A map change alters the circuit-to-time slot assignments.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 2002Date of Patent: February 20, 2007Inventor: Keith Cambron
