  • Publication number: 20070209367
Abstract: A system and method are provided for recovering power from hot flue gas of a catalyst regenerator in an FCC unit and an integrated fluid catalytic cracking steam pressure letdown. The system includes a flue gas power recovery system including an expander and a turbine for generating power by letting down steam from a higher pressure to a lower pressure for use in a refinery process such as an FCC unit.

  • Publication number: 20060266048
Abstract: A system and method are provided for recovering power from hot flue gas of a catalyst regenerator in an FCC unit. The system includes a temperature reduction device, such as a steam generator, and an expander that can be used, for example, to drive an electrical generator. The temperature reduction device has an uncontrolled temperature inlet and a controlled temperature outlet; and a power recovery expander having an expander inlet and an expander outlet. The expander can be driven by at least some flue gas that is directed from a downstream side of the temperature reduction device to the expander inlet. In an embodiment, a bypass conduit is provided to bypass at least some flue gas from an upstream side of the temperature reduction device to the expander inlet. A process is provided for controlling the generating capacity by varying the bypass flow.

  • Publication number: 20060096455
Abstract: Disclosed is a third stage separator which includes two main clean gas outlets. One main clean gas outlet communicates with a power recovery unit such as an expander turbine while the second main clean gas outlet communicates with a conduit that bypasses the expander turbine. The present invention avoids use of the extra equipment, engineering and installation labor required to prevent the bypass conduit from placing a force load on the line to the power recovery unit.

  • Patent number: 5371488
Abstract: The security device receives longitudinal tension from a taut wire of a fence and preferably is placed in-line in the taut wire system away from posts used to support the fence. The security device senses variations in the longitudinal tension in the taut wire and produces a tension signal which is transmitted to a central location when it senses such a tension deviation. The security device may be used in conjunction with a resistance sensing device to provide further protection. The resistance of a conductive loop formed either by the taut wire or by the combination of the taut wire and another conductor is monitored and a resistance signal is produced when it senses either a discontinuity or a variation in the resistance of the loop. The method of the present invention includes steps for receiving the tension in the taut wire and producing a signal when the tension in the taut wire varies more than a triggering amount.
