Abstract: A particulate counter determines the size, number and distribution by size of various particles within a vessel by the principle of near angle scattering in which the portion of a light beam which is deflected by a given particle indicates detection and sizing of that particle. The counter disregards sidelobes which are caused by interference between the deflected portion of the beam and the beam itself by allowing only a single valid particle detection to occur in the space of a given time window.

Abstract: An improved air-sampling pump of miniature size ideally suited for carrying on a person includes monitoring circuitry which controls motive pump-energizing signal applied to an air pump to ensure that sampled air is pumped through a test chamber at a substantially constant rate over an extended period of time and also includes alarm circuitry which provides comtemporary and residual indications of interrupted flow rate during the sampling period.

Abstract: A method of needleless medicant injection with an ampule having a medicant chamber and a bore extending therefrom dimensioned for needleless injection which includes the steps of evacuating the medicant chamber such that it is at less than ambient pressure, sealing the chamber from ambient pressure, thereafter exposing the chamber to a contained medicant to permit transfer of the medicant into the chamber, and then exposing the medicant in the chamber to a higher than ambient pressure to force it through the bore.

Abstract: A needleless hypodermic injector ampule includes a main body forming a chamber which is at less than ambient pressure, a cannula extending from one wall of the body, and a rigid discharge portion contiguous with the body and having a bore extending therethrough, which bore is in fluid communication with the chamber and terminates in an orfice which is dimensioned for needleless injection.
