  • Publication number: 20230294747
Abstract: A control system can include a controller that may obtain a location of a phase break along a route. The controller can monitor locations of a vehicle and determine when the vehicle will reach the phase break location. The system also may include a switch proximate to a collector device of the vehicle and/or an actuator that moves the collector device relative to a conductive pathway. The conductive pathway may operate to supply electrical power to the vehicle. The controller can actuate a switch, an actuator, or both the switch and the actuator, and (upon activation) can change a source of power for one or more loads for propulsion of the vehicle through the location of the phase break along the route.

  • Patent number: 11493643
Abstract: A vehicle navigation system includes an external source sensor onboard a vehicle system that determines headings of the vehicle system. The external source sensor determines the headings using signals received from an off-board, external system. The navigation system also includes a magnetic sensor onboard the vehicle system that measures magnetic fields along different axes at different times. One or more processors determine a combination of the magnetic fields, determine a position translation and/or a magnitude scaling of the combination of the magnetic fields, and modify at least one of the headings based on the position translation and/or the magnitude scaling.

  • Patent number: 10889276
Abstract: In a method of train deceleration, a train computer: (a) causes brakes of the train to be set according to a target deceleration curve, profile, or braking model estimated to decelerate the train from a present speed at a present location to a target speed at a target location; (b) during deceleration of the train according to the target deceleration curve, profile, or braking model of step (a), determines an actual deceleration curve of the train; (c) in response to determining from the actual deceleration curve that the train will overshoot the target speed at the target location, determines another target deceleration curve, profile, or braking model estimated to decelerate the train to the target speed at the target location; and (d) causes the brakes of the train to be set according to the other target deceleration curve, profile or braking model of step (c).
