  • Publication number: 20240057667
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an assembly for an aerosol provision device for heating aerosol-generating material to volatilize at least one component of the aerosol-generating material. The assembly can include a heating zone for receiving aerosol-generating material to be heated, a structure, and at least one continuous electrically conductive path supported by the structure and configured to perform a first function of detecting temperature of the heating zone on the basis of an electrical resistance of the at least one path and/or a second function of heating the heating zone by resistance heating. The at least one path extends along at least two distinct portions of the structure. The at least one path can include a multiplicity of turns within each of the at least two distinct portions of the structure. The at least two distinct portions of the structure are offset from each other by a gap which is substantially free of the at least one path.

  • Publication number: 20220183390
Abstract: An aerosol provision device is provided. The device comprises a plurality of electrical components, a heating assembly comprising a heater component for heating aerosol generating material, and a battery to power the plurality of electrical components and the heating assembly. In use, the power consumption of the plurality of electrical components is less than about 0.25 W.

  • Publication number: 20220183392
Abstract: Apparatus for an aerosol generating device is described. The apparatus comprises a heating circuit for heating a heating arrangement, the heating arrangement arranged to heat an aerosol generating material to thereby generate an aerosol; a temperature sensing arrangement for sensing a temperature of the device; and a controller for controlling a supply of energy to the heating circuit. The controller is configured to: determine a characteristic that is indicative that energy is being supplied to the heating circuit over a given time period, and determine a change in temperature sensed by the temperature sensing arrangement over the given time period; and take a control action if, based on the determined characteristic and the increase in temperature sensed by the temperature sensing arrangement over the given period, the controller determines that one or more predetermined criteria that are indicative of a fault with the temperature sensing arrangement are satisfied.

  • Publication number: 20220183377
Abstract: An apparatus for an aerosol generating device is described. The apparatus includes an induction heating circuit including an inductive element for inductively heating a susceptor arrangement to heat an aerosol generating material to thereby generate an aerosol, a capacitive element, and a switching arrangement that in use alternates between a first state and a second state to enable a varying current to be generated from a DC voltage supply and flow through the inductive element to cause inductive heating of the susceptor arrangement. The circuit also includes a control arrangement configured to switch the switching arrangement from the first state to the second state in response to a first voltage condition being detected in the circuit, and to switch the switching arrangement from the second state to the first state in response to a second voltage condition being detected in the circuit.
