  • Patent number: 8979155
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for automated vertical placement of a small rod at a predetermined location, where the apparatus includes a parallel pneumatic gripper having a driver mechanism and a double-v shaped interlocking jaw assembly configured to receive, secure, and release a small rod in a substantially vertical position in response to corresponding signals generated by the driver mechanism. The present invention also provides a robotic system for automated gross retrieval and precise placement of a small rod. The present invention further provides a process for automated gross retrieval of at least one small rod and subsequent precise and substantially vertical placement thereof into a platform at a predetermined location and at a predetermined depth.

  • Publication number: 20070107868
Abstract: A wax pattern welding system and method for producing a pool of molten wax on an area of a surface of a wax component is provided. The wax pattern welding system includes a bar of heat conducting material and a heating element. The bar has a raised heating surface, which has a recessed area for retaining molten wax when the raised heating surface contacts the wax component, and a vent structure. The vent structure facilitates confining the pool of molten wax on an area of a surface of the wax component. In another embodiment, the pattern welding system includes an attachable plate of heat conducting material, which has a raised heating surface with a recessed area, and a vent structure. The attachable plate is configured to be fastened to the bar of heat conducting material.

  • Publication number: 20060032601
Abstract: A wax tree assembly heating system for heating wax on the surface of a wax component is provided. The system includes an elongated bar of heat conducting material, having a heating surface, and a heating element for heating the heating surface. The heating surface is configured to contact a wax component, such as a wax runner or a gate of a wax pattern, and has a space for retaining molten wax when the heating surface contacts a surface of the wax component. In another embodiment, the wax tree assembly heating system has a plurality of raised heating surfaces that are configured for producing molten wax on a plurality of areas on one or more surfaces of at least one wax component. Additionally, an electrical circuit is provided which includes a heating element and a temperature controller to control the temperature at which wax is melted.
