Abstract: A multi-function cooking apparatus and method. The apparatus including: a user interface element; one or more heating elements used for cooking; and a processor element adapted to receive an input command from the user interface element; the processor element being configured to control the one or more heating elements used for cooking. The user interface control element includes a function selector having a plurality of cooking function configurations. The user interface control element further includes a first input selector for enabling a user to select when a bit more additional cooking time is requested; the processor element adding a supplemental cooking time to a current cooking time.

Abstract: A variable speed selector for a juicer is user operable for selecting a speed from a speed range. The speed range is divisible into sub-ranges. A display area is adapted to depict the selected sub-range. The display area further comprises a list of vegetables or fruit. The display area also comprises a moving indicator that moves according to the selected speed, and appears adjacent to the fruit or vegetable for which the selected speed is optimal.

Abstract: A reamer (50) for a citrus juicer (10) is formed from a plurality of ribs (53) including an upper profile and a lower profile. The ribs may be knife like to maximize juice extraction. Fruit may be brought into contact with the reamer by an actuating arm (70). The actuating arm preferably includes a four part linkage with a major pivot arm (80) and a minor pivot arm (85). In a motorized version, a housing (20) supports the reamer (50) and contains a motor and gear box (29). A juice collector (40) lies intermittent the housing (20) and the reamer (50), to collect the juice and optionally includes a filter (45) to remove pulp.

Abstract: A lid (12) of a juicer provides several important functions. It preventsjuice from escaping, it diverts pulp efficiently toward a collector (13) or chute (150), it cooperates with a locking bar to keep the device safe and closed and it provides a platform for the feed tube. The lid (12) comprises a polymeric cap (52) (for example a polycarbonate) to which is secured a metal, preferably stainless steel feed tube (51). Importantly the combination of clear cap (52) and steel feed tube provides all of the advantages of both, that is, adequate strength in the feed tube and knife and the ability to see under the cap.
