  • Patent number: 7920061
Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling an alarm state, such as volume, based on the presence or absence of a caregiver in a patient's room. More specifically, a local sound producing device provides an audible alarm within a room when a caregiver is in the room, while a remote sound producing device provides an audible alarm external of the room when the caregiver is not in the room. Accordingly, volume levels of the sound producing devices depend on the sensed presence or absence of the caregiver within the room. For example, when the caregiver leaves the room, the local sound producing device is deactivated and/or the remote sound producing device is activated, thereby allowing the patient to enjoy a more relaxed environment within the room, yet still continue to be monitored.

Date of Patent: April 5, 2011
    Assignee: General Electric Company

  • Patent number: 6019999
Abstract: Described is a process for making a liposomal, ion-exchange whey protein and products thereof, which result in the sustained release of amino acids into the body's circulation to generally promote skeletal muscle protein synthesis, decrease body fat in association with diet modification and improve exercise performance. The whey protein is preferably encapsulated in a liposome using a cold, or non-heated, process. After the liposomal, ion-exchange whey protein has been prepared, it is then preferably lyophilized to deliver macronutrients for use as a sports nutrition supplement and for use in medical or clinical catabolic applications.

  • Patent number: 5275983
Abstract: This invention relates to an improved pack mixture composition useful for the formation of a SiC pack cementation coating for protecting a carbonaceous substrate from degradation at temperatures above about 800.degree. F. comprising: Si from about 15% to about 50% by weight of the total composition; B up to about 25% by weight of the total composition when present; SiO.sub.2 from about 0.01% to about 3% by weight of the total composition; and SiC from about 40% to about 85% by weight of the total composition. The invention also relates to a method for protecting a carbonaceous substrate from degradation at temperatures above about 800.degree. F. comprising: preparing a pack mixture composition of from about 15% to about 50% Si, up to about 25% B, from about 0.01% to about 3% SiO.sub.
