  • Publication number: 20040255748
Abstract: An ergonomic miter saw is provided having a base and a saw arm assembly with the saw arm assembly pivotally affixed at a fixed end to the base and provided with a distal end having a handle extending outwardly therefrom. The central region of the arm assembly includes a rotary spindle supporting a cutting disk. A handle is preferably provided with an elongate grip portion sized for the user's fingers and a palm pad portion extending outwardly therefrom to underlie the heal of the user's hand to minimize bending torque on the user's wrist as the arm is lowered. Ideally, the handle is rotated in a direction opposite that the cutting disk is tilted. Preferably, the handle is adjustably oriented about the arm axis in a direction opposite that the saw blade is tiltable so that the deviation for horizontal of the handle can be minimized when the miter saw is used in a tilted cutting disk mode.

  • Publication number: 20040227308
Abstract: A grip assembly for one of a clutch cap for a clutch mechanism, a rear sleeve or front sleeve for a chuck assembly having a chuck mechanism with a plurality of adjustable jaws. The grip assembly includes an inner sleeve having open top and an open bottom opposite the top and defining a longitudinal axis with a peripheral wall disposed between the first end and the second end and an elastomeric grip comprising a plurality of spaced apart ribs extending generally circumferentially about an outer surface of the front sleeve. An optional a cover can encircle the inner sleeve and have a plurality of spaced apart apertures to receive respective ribs.

  • Patent number: 6726414
Abstract: A fixed base router is provided comprising a base having a central bore. The router includes an adjusting ring rotatably affixed to a base upper end, being coaxial with the central bore, and having a series of gear teeth formed thereto defining a ring gear. A motor housing, including a motor for imparting rotational motion to a tool holder, is threadably engaged with the adjusting ring. A pinion gear, journaled for rotation relative to the base, is engaged with the ring gear, and is coupled for rotation with a dial extending from the base. The base is adapted to prevent rotation of the motor housing relative thereto, such that rotation of the adjusting ring axially translates the motor housing relative to the base. The router includes a scale and indicator for indicating fine adjustment of the motor housing relative to the base.

  • Publication number: 20030218469
Abstract: An object sensor for sensing objects hidden from view behind a first wall surface. The object sensor has a housing having a front surface with a display and a rear surface. The object sensor also has a sensing system and provides additional functions. The additional functions can include a distance detector, a computing system working in conjunction with the distance detector to determine the distance between the object sensor and a second wall, a tracking mechanism, and a projector to project a beam at predetermined distances. The object sensor may further have a level or a location marker.

  • Patent number: 6422015
Abstract: A method and system for reliably and cost effectively operating a turbocharged diesel engine by injecting propane in gaseous form from a vehicle mounted tank into the engine by the use of a fuel pressure regulator valve responsive to the boost pressure of the engine turbocharger to adjust fuel flow correspondingly. A safety switching arrangement requires manual reactivation of the system each time the engine is restarted.

  • Patent number: 6419429
Abstract: A router having a base and an adjustably positioned motor assembly is provided with a pair of ergonomic elongate handles on opposite right and left sides of the motor housing. The elongate handles which are connected to and spaced from the motor housing by a pair of bridge members are ellipsoidal in shape when viewed in a transverse side elevation. Each elongate handle has a longitudinal length L having a large upper end, diameter Z and a lower small end diameter Z′.
