  • Patent number: 6497836
Abstract: Molded hose joint assemblies, e.g., connections, branched hoses and bleeding devices for fluid circuits, and especially such assemblies for use in automotive and industrial coolant circuit assemblies, which assemblies comprise a reduced amount of molded outer covering element over prior art designs, said covering element substantially encapsulating the connection points of generally flexible hose ends to generally rigid inner connection members. The outer covering element forms a unitary mass or interconnecting rings about at least two such hose connection points. Flexible manufacturing techniques for producing such assemblies are provided.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 7, 2001
Date of Patent: December 24, 2002
    Assignee: The Gates Corporation
Inventors: Keith M. Krause, Melvin L. Marriott

  • Patent number: 5566988
Abstract: The invention is an improved hose clamp of the type formed of a band of heat shrinkable polymer having a diameter reducing released temperature, an inside band surface and an outside band surface. It is improved by the inclusion of a shrinkage indicator.

  • Patent number: 4603712
Abstract: An example of an elastomeric article embodying the invention is a composite, reinforced, vulcanized elastomeric hose, which includes a tube, an outer cover, a reinforcement layer, and a specially compounded interlayer interposed either between the tube and the reinforcement or the cover and the reinforcement. The inner tube (or in some applications, the cover) is composed of either a fluoroelastomer, fluoroplastic, polypropylene, polyvinylchloride, chlorinated polyethylene, or acrylonitrile polymer. The compounded polychloroprene interlayrer effects a strong bond to these materials. The tube and the cover are composed of materials not readily bondable to each other. The polychloroprene interlayer forms a strong bond to those layers it is in contact with when vulcanized.
