  • Publication number: 20060195510
Abstract: An information management and synchronous communications system and method facilitates database equilibrium and synchronization with wired, wireless and Web-based systems, user-friendly and efficient generation of computerized menus and reservations with handwritten/voice modifications for restaurants, enrollment sessions, and other applications that utilize equipment with nonstandard graphical formats, display sizes and/or applications for use in remote data entry, information management and communication with host computer, digital input device or remote pager via standard hardwired connection, the internet, a wireless link, printer or the like. Various operations employing automated telephone calls and/or messaging may, for instance, be performed. For example, desired reservation and/or appointment information may be automatically converted and conveyed to one or more entities via automated telephone call and/or messaging.

  • Publication number: 20050193182
Abstract: An apparatus and method of preventing unauthorized access to computer data. The apparatus is installed in a computer system between the main board and an associated data storage device, for example a hard drive. Read/write commands from the motherboard to the hard drive are intercepted and scrutinized by a filter means of the apparatus. If the pre-determined level of data access of the user issuing the command is insufficient to permit the type of access that is being sought (eg: write access is sought, but the user only has permission for read access on that particular hard drive partition), then the command is blocked. An identity means, for example an RFID, may also be included that identifies an authorized user and corresponding level of data access. The apparatus and method may be employed as a stand-alone solution or as part of a computer network.

  • Patent number: 6339048
Abstract: This invention is of a drilling fluid composition containing a liquid thixotrope, which thixotrope is free of solvents or any other diluent, and is in easily usable, liquid form, pourable at ambient temperatures, and which provides effective and efficient rheological properties when used at low levels in such compositions. In a specific aspect, the invention provides an oil or oil invert emulsion drilling fluid composition containing one or more organoclays, and in addition contains a additive which comprises the reaction product of an alkoxylated nitrogen containing compound or a diamine, and one or more polycarboxylic acids in a specified equivalent ratio.

  • Patent number: 6159906
Abstract: An improved drilling fluid with enhanced anti-settling properties useful for oil well drilling systems is described. The invention includes a process for providing anti-settling properties to oil invert (i.e., water in oil emulsion) based fluids. The drilling fluid/drilling mud invention contains at least one copolymer reaction product of which the reactants comprise at least one ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic compound and at least one alpha-olefin. As an alternative embodiment one or more rheologically-active clays including organoclays and smectite clays in combination with such copolymer reaction product are also added to the drilling fluid. The invention also includes an anti-settling additive comprising a rheologically active clay and the above described copolymer.

  • Patent number: 5710108
Abstract: The invention involves biopolymer/oil suspension compositions for the oil service industry, most particularly drilling and completion fluids, which provide such fluids a variety of desirable properties. Biopolymers include water soluble polymers and water swellable polymers. Such biopolymer/oil suspension compositions are essentially mixtures of biopolymers such as cellulosics in an oil medium with a specific anti-settling additive. The invention is particularly directed to providing enhanced anti-settling properties to such biopolymer/oil compositions; that is, the ability of the biopolymer/oil composition to retain the biopolymers in suspension prior to the composition being introduced into drilling and completion fluids. The invention in one embodiment is described as a liquid biopolymer-in-oil additive compositions for use in aqueous-based completion fluids, containing an agent comprising: a) one or more polyamides, and b) hydrogenated caster oils including castorwax.
