    Abstract: An endoscopic surgical apparatus is provided for placing lateral lines of surgical fasteners into body tissue. The apparatus includes a frame portion, an elongated portion extending from the frame portion, and an articulating fastener applying assembly associated with a distal end of the elongated portion. The fastener applying assembly includes a base portion, a staple cartridge housing, and an anvil member which has a forming surface thereon against which surgical fasteners are driven as they are ejected from the cartridge housing. A first mechanism is provided for effectuating the rotation of the fastener applying assembly about an axis defined by the body portion, a second mechanism is provided for effectuating the articulation of the fastener applying assembly, and a third mechanism is provided for independently rotating the cartridge housing and anvil member relative to a longitudinal axis defined by the base position to increase the range of operability of the apparatus.

The loading unit includes upper and lower fastener support members having a passage defined therethrough for receiving an end of the second blood vessel and configured to releasably support a plurality of surgical fasteners. The loading unit also includes a retractable anvil located at a distal end of the loading unit, the anvil being movable relative to the fastener support member in response to actuation of the handle to simultaneously deform the of surgical fasteners.

    Abstract: A gas gun includes a pressure regulator assembly which controls the velocity of projectiles fired by the gun by adjusting the pressure within the gas chamber of the gun. The regulator assembly includes a spring-biased piston which is slidable within a gas seal between a source of pressurized gas and the gas chamber. The piston is movable between a first position in which gas can flow from the source of pressurized gas to the gas chamber and a second position in which gas is prevented from flowing from the source of pressurized gas to the gas chamber. The force exerted on the piston by the spring can be adjusted to control the gas pressure at which the piston moves to its second position.

    Abstract: A gunstock is provided with a cheekpiece which can be adjusted laterally and vertically relative to the gunstock. A pair of cams with eccentric pins are threadedly mounted on threaded studs on the gunstock, and each eccentric pin extends into a slot in the cheekpiece. When the cams are rotated on the studs, the eccentric pins move up or down and to the right or left to adjust the cheekpiece. The cheekpiece is held on the gunstock by a bolt which extends through the cheekpiece into a nut which is slidably mounted in a transverse slot in the gunstock.

    Abstract: A gas-powered gun includes a movable loader for moving projectiles into alignment with the barrel of the gun and a detent engageable with the loader for retaining a protectile in the firing position. The loader is provided with projectile ports for holding the projectiles, and the detent is engageable with each port as it moves into alignment with the barrel. The detent is slidably mounted within a detent holder, and the detent holder is connected to a source of pressurized gas. A gas passage extends through the detent, and when the gun is fired, pressurized gas flows through the detent and propels the projectile through the barrel.
