Patent number: 5844115Abstract: Active hydrogen containing organic compounds, for example alcohols, thiols, phenols, thiophenols, carboxylic acids, amides and amines, are alkoxylated, for example, ethoxylated, using catalysts comprising a salt of a Group IIa or Group Ia element and an oxyacid of at least one element chosen from Group IVb, Group Vb or Group VIb, for example, lanthanum titanate, barium titanium, barium strontium titanate, yttrium titanate, lanthanum zirconate, barium zirconate, lanthanum hafnate, barium strontium titanate zirconate and neodymium titanate. The catalyst provide narrow distribution of alkoxylation species and efficient reaction rates.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 1995Date of Patent: December 1, 1998Assignee: ICI Australia Operations Proprietary LimitedInventors: Keith Moody, Rodney W Parr, David Parris, Kenneth R Deutscher, Esennur E Tasdelen

Patent number: 4338477Abstract: The invention concerns a process for the removal of catalyst residues from a gas by contacting the gas with particulate mineral oxides. The process of the invention may be applied to the removal of coordination catalyst residues from .alpha.-olefins recycled from a polymerization reactor. The process is particularly useful in the removal of alkylaluminium halides and hydrogen halides, such as diethylaluminium chloride and hydrogen chloride, from .alpha.-olefins such as propylene. The process offers the advantages of being able to be operated under anhydrous conditions, and combining high efficiency in the removal of low levels of catalyst residues with a high capacity for the catalyst residues.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1980Date of Patent: July 6, 1982Assignees: ICI Australia Limited, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research OrganizationInventors: Keith Moody, Thomas Mole
