Patent number: 11270708Abstract: Various embodiments of the technology described herein alleviate the need to specifically request enrollment information from a user to enroll the user in a voice biometric authentication program. For example, the system can receive a verbal request or a verbal command and non-voice biometric authentication information from a user. The user can be authenticated via a first authentication method using the non-voice biometric authentication information. After the user is authenticated using the first authentication method, the system enrolls the user into a voice biometric authentication program for at least one portion of the verbal request or the verbal command without requesting enrollment information.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2020Date of Patent: March 8, 2022Assignee: UNITED SERVICES AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION (USAA)Inventors: Zakery Layne Johnson, Maland Keith Mortensen, Gabriel Carlos Fernandez, Debra Randall Casillas, Sudarshan Rangarajan, Thomas Bret Buckingham

Patent number: 11218475Abstract: The technology described herein discloses systems and methods for upgrading biometric authentication system. The system can receive first biometric information in connection with an authentication request from a user. The system can authenticate the user via a first authentication system by comparing the first biometric information received in connection with the authentication request with second biometric information. The user can be automatically enrolled into a second authentication system using the first biometric information received in connection with the authentication request.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2020Date of Patent: January 4, 2022Assignee: UNITED SERVICES AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION (USAA)Inventor: Maland Keith Mortensen

Patent number: 11210379Abstract: Methods and systems described in this disclosure electronically notarize a document. The system can receive biometric information from a user, extract characteristics from the biometric information, and compare the characteristics of the biometric information with previously stored characteristics of the user's biometric information. When the characteristics of the biometric information match the previously stored characteristics to a threshold, the system can create an identity of the user using the characteristics of the biometric information. The system can send a document to the user for cryptographic signature and receive an indication that the document has been signed. The cryptographic signature can be generated with a digest of the document, the identity, and a cryptographic key associated with the user. The system can inspect the digest of the document, the cryptographic key, and the identity associated with the document to verify authenticity of the document and the identity of the user.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2020Date of Patent: December 28, 2021Assignee: UNITED SERVICES AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION (USAA)Inventors: David Lindley, Alexander Benetto Nagelberg, Maland Keith Mortensen, Joseph Gregory Delong, Shantanu K. Tripathy, Zachary T. Golden, Kevin D. Love, Brian Keith Anderson, Kasey T. Moore

Patent number: 11187013Abstract: A smart lock box system is described. One implementation of the lock box system includes a locking mechanism configured to securely hold a cover over a compartment. The lock box system includes a receiver capable of receiving signals from a user device. The lock box system also includes a processor configured to identify an access message in a received signal, a service to verify that the access message was provided by an authorized party, and cause the locking mechanism to be released in response to verifying that the access message was provided by the authorized party. The open/close events are recorded in a distributed ledger to document which user's device was used to access a given property at a given time. Furthermore, the smart lock box system utilizes a push notification service, based on user device's GPS, to inform owners when to depart/return to the property.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2020Date of Patent: November 30, 2021Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Sumita T. Jonak, Tyler Caro, Emily Kathleen Krebs, Maland Keith Mortensen, Gabriel C. Fernandez

Patent number: 10909618Abstract: Techniques are described for migrating information (e.g., funds) from a first account to a second account. Account information for the first account may be analyzed to identify periodic, regular, and/or semi-regular transactions of a first type (e.g., charge(s)) made from the first account. The account information may also be analyzed to identify periodic, regular, and/or semi-regular transactions of a second type (e.g., payment(s)) made into the first account. The transactions(s) of the first type may be migrated to be paid out of the second account, and the transactions(s) of the second type may be migrated to be paid into the second account. After migration of transaction(s) is completed, the remaining funds may be transferred from the first account into the second account. In some instances during the migration process, funds may be transferred from the first account to the second account to cover charges made against the second account.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2016Date of Patent: February 2, 2021Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Maland Keith Mortensen, Kennith Patterson, Kevin K. Patent number: 10867021Abstract: Methods and systems for authenticating a user are described. In some embodiments, a series of voice interactions are received from a user during a voiceline session. Each of the voice interactions in the series of voice interaction may be analyzed as each of the voice interactions are received. A confidence level in a verification of an identity of the user may be determined based on the analysis of each of the voice interactions. An access level for the user may be automatically updated based on the confidence level of the verification of the identity of the user after each of the voice interactions is received.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2019Date of Patent: December 15, 2020Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: John Shelton, Michael Wayne Lester, Debra Randall Casillas, Sudarshan Rangarajan, Maland Keith Mortensen
