    Abstract: A fiber optic adapter is disclosed. The fiber optic adapter includes a main body configured to receive a first fiber optic connector through a first end and a second fiber optic connector through a second end for mating with the first fiber optic connector. The adapter includes a ferrule alignment structure located within an axial cavity of the main body, the ferrule alignment structure including a sleeve mount and a ferrule sleeve, the sleeve mount including an axial bore and at least one latching hook extending from a center portion of the sleeve mount toward the first end of the main body and at least one latching hook extending from the center portion toward the second end of the main body, the latching hooks configured to flex for releasably latching the first and second fiber optic connectors to the fiber optic adapter.

    Abstract: A nanocomposite material suitable for electrical insulation includes a polymer compounded with a substantially homogeneously distributed functionalized nanoparticle filler. The nanocomposite material is produced by compounding the polymer with the functionalized nanoparticle filler by imparting a shear force to a mixture of the polymer and filler capable of preventing agglomeration of the filler whereby the filler is substantially homogeneously distributed in the nanocomposite material. The electrical insulation may be adapted for AC or DC high voltage, and may also be adapted for low or medium voltage to prevent formation of water tree structures.

    Abstract: An over-molding tool is provided for over-molding an over-mold onto a fiber optic cable assembly. The over-molding tool includes first and second mold tool sets. The first mold tool set applies a first portion of the over-mold onto the fiber optic cable assembly. The second mold tool set then applies a second portion of the over-mold onto the fiber optic cable assembly. In preferred embodiments, the first and the second portions of the over-mold fuse to each other. By employing the first and the second mold tool sets, the fiber optic cable assembly can be supported at closer intervals along its length when being over-molded in comparison to a single, longer mold tool set. In addition, a lower capacity injection pump can be used when applying the over-mold in two portions. In other embodiments, additional mold tool sets can be added that sequentially apply additional portions of the over-mold.

    Abstract: A passive centralizer for stably centering within a well. The centralizer may be of a retracted profile for advancement within the well and deployable for centralization upon reaching an operation site. Deployment may be achieved in an automated manner without the requirement of operator interaction therefor. Furthermore, the centralizer may be truly passive in that energy for deployment may be stored entirely within the passive centralizer prior to its insertion within the well. The passive centralizer may also be compressed following centralization by any number of downhole restrictions. In this manner the passive centralizer may also be readily withdrawn from the well.

    Abstract: The present technology relates to tamper evident films, systems and methods for detecting tamper events in films or film packages. The present technology is especially useful in applications for detecting tamper events with individually packaged goods, as well as with bulk packaging or wrapped pallets in circumstances where visual inspection is hampered or prevented. In one or more preferred systems, films and methods of the present technology utilize a conductive pattern, a sensor and/or alarm circuit, and a wrapping film, such as a stretch film, shrink wrap, bagging or stretchhooder. In at least one particularly preferred embodiment, films of the present technology are stretch films having conductive ink patterns applied thereto that remain conductive when the films are stretched to a percent stretch of about 1% or greater. In other embodiments, a conductive material can be separately wrapped and/or cowrapped in conjunction with a film.
