  • Patent number: 8142419
Abstract: A reduced-pressure, wound closure system is presented that generates a closing force on a surface wound and optionally provides reduced pressure to a body cavity or tissue site. The sealed contracting member, when placed under reduced pressure, generates the closing force. One illustrative system includes a first attachment member and a second attachment member, a sealed contracting member coupled to the first attachment member and the second attachment member, and wherein the closing force is generated between the first attachment member and the second attachment member when reduced pressure is supplied to the sealed contracting member. • Patent number: 8114126
Abstract: A modular, reduced-pressure, wound-closure system for generating a closing force on a surface wound on a patient includes a sealed contracting member, a plurality of attachment base members, and a plurality of connecting members. The combination of the plurality of attachment base members and plurality of connecting members forms a circumferential wall around the surface wound. The sealed contracting member is operable to be disposed within an interior space defined by the circumferential wall and coupled to at least of portion of the circumferential wall. When reduced pressure is provided to the sealed contracting member, the sealed contracting member contracts and the circumferential wall delivers a closing force. • Patent number: 8021407
Abstract: A patient cooling system comprises an inflatable patient mattress and a patient enclosure or tent supported by a framework of inflatable tubes drawing air off of the same air supply used to supply the mattress and to cool the tent. The framework of inflatable tubes is divided into left and right sections, which are further subdivided into lower body and upper body sections. An inflatable connector with a stem and protuberance is provided to secure the framework in a closed position. The patient-supporting mattress comprises a plurality of inflatable compartments extending transversely across the width of the mattress that can be alternately pressurized for pressure relief therapy. • Publication number: 20110224691
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses for debriding a tissue site, such as a wound, involve using solid CO2 particles and reduced pressure to cut and remove undesired tissue in a controlled manner. The system may urge the undesired tissue into a treatment cavity and then cut the undesired tissue with impinging CO2 particles. The CO2 particles sublime into a gas and present little or no mess. Other systems, methods, and apparatuses are presented.

  • Publication number: 20110022013
Abstract: A system for stimulating the healing of tissue comprises a porous pad positioned within a wound cavity, and an airtight dressing secured over the pad, so as to provide an airtight seal to the wound cavity. A proximal end of a conduit is connectable to the dressing. A distal end of the conduit is connectable to a negative pressure source, which may be an electric pump housed within a portable housing, or wall suction. A canister is positioned along the conduit to retain exudates suctioned from the wound site during the application of negative pressure. A first hydrophobic filter is positioned at an opening of the canister to detect a canister full condition. A second hydrophobic filter is positioned between the first filter and the negative pressure source to prevent contamination of the non-disposable portion of the system by exudates being drawn from the wound. An odor filter is positioned between the first and second hydrophobic filters to aid in the reduction of malodorous vapors.
