Patent number: 10132343Abstract: A joint exhibits high tensile strength. The joint includes a solid rod having a slit or opening into which a wedge is inserted. The rod and wedge are inserted into a fitting. The internal surface of the fitting has a contour which continuously and nonlinearly varies with distance along the fitting. The wedge has a dimension having a similar contour. The shape of the contour can be described by a polynomial of order two or higher. The joint can be used to construct a sucker rod for an oil well, or it can be used in other applications. The joint can support high tensile loads, over long distances, while occupying a very narrow tubing bore.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2012Date of Patent: November 20, 2018Assignee: MEGALEX JOINT, LLCInventors: Mitchell W. Hale, Keith R. Loss, James P. Gormican, Tobias R. Panek

Patent number: 6865477Abstract: A vehicle navigation method and system employing echo or doppler analysis to provide autonomous or enhanced navigational capabilities by correlating stored scene information with echo analysis information derived from an Active Traveling-Wave Device (ATWD) output representing information concerning the vehicle's state and velocity vectors with respect to a mapped scene.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 2002Date of Patent: March 8, 2005Assignee: Winged Systems CorporationInventors: Joseph M. Nicosia, Keith R. Loss, Gordon A. Taylor

Publication number: 20020147544Abstract: A vehicle navigation system employing echo or doppler analysis to provide autonomous or enhanced navigational capabilities by correlating stored scene information with echo analysis information derived from an Active Traveling-Wave Device (ATWD) output representing information concerning the vehicle's state and velocity vectors with respect to a mapped scene. The system employs a steppable frequency oscillator for providing a signal which is stepped in frequency to provide an increased range resolution of the ATWD.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 11, 2002Publication date: October 10, 2002Applicant: WINGED SYSTEMS CORPORATIONInventors: Joseph M. Nicosia, Keith R. Loss, Gordon A. Taylor
