  • Publication number: 20220241112
Abstract: A dressing device and a method of making the dressing device is disclosed. For example, the method can include forming a polyurethane foam, adhering a moisture vapor-transmissive backing to the polyurethane foam, and cutting the polyurethane foam with the moisture vapor-transmissive backing thereon to form the dressing device. Notably, forming the polyurethane foam can include mixing together a polyurethane prepolymer and an aqueous mixture of chlorhexidine di-gluconate and polyanhydroglucuronic acid or a salt of polyanhydroglucuronic acid in a first reaction vessel until a homogenous mixture is formed; dispensing the homogenous mixture onto a liner; and allowing the homogeneous mixture to expel carbon dioxide. Upon expelling the carbon dioxide, the polyurethane foam is formed with the chlorhexidine di-gluconate and the polyanhydroglucuronic acid or the salt of polyanhydroglucuronic acid homogenously dispersed throughout the polyurethane foam.

  • Publication number: 20200069475
Abstract: A method of protecting an insertion site permitting passage of a transcutaneous medical device into a patient. The method includes grasping a dressing device, positioning the dressing device over the insertion site, and adhering the dressing device to the patient over the insertion site. The dressing device may include a moisture vapor permeable backing, a polyurethane foam matrix, and an adhesive. The polyurethane foam matrix may be adhered to a first side of the moisture vapor permeable backing, and the adhesive may cover a second side of the moisture vapor permeable backing opposite of the first side. The polyurethane foam matrix can include a polyanhydroglucuronic acid or salt thereof in an amount to achieve a haemostatic effect, and chlorhexidine di-gluconate in an amount of 9% to 16% (w/w) to achieve an antimicrobial effect without adversely affecting wound healing.

  • Patent number: 8865680
Abstract: A surgical gel system for coating and adhering to a wound area to control bleeding while supporting wound healing comprises polyanhydroglucuronic acid or a biocompatible salt in an amount of from 1% to 15% by weight and pectin in an amount of in an amount of from 0.1% to 9% by weight. The gel system may be used for stopping bleeding during or after sinus surgery, for stopping bleeding in ear nose and throat procedures, for stopping bleeding in gynecological procedures, or for stopping bleeding in internal organ procedures.

  • Publication number: 20130110025
Abstract: A wound dressing device for use with a transcutaneous medical device such as a cannula or a catheter comprises a polyurethane matrix which may be covered with a film backing. Chlorhexidine di- gluconate and a polyanhydroglucuronic salt are contained in the polymer matrix. The wound dressing device prevents microbial colonization of the dressing and stops bleeding from the insertion site. The device provides combined haemostatic and antimicrobial effects at the insertion site but without adversely affecting wound healing.

  • Publication number: 20110111012
Abstract: Wound dressing assemblies and methods of producing the wound dressing assemblies. The wound dressing assemblies various comprise individual layers of nanomaterials that have been formed according to an electrospinning process. Each of the layers can have different characteristics and qualities. The invention also provides guidance in selecting materials to form a wound dressing assembly, as well as possible adaptations to the electrospinning process to provide different characteristics for particular materials.

  • Publication number: 20100266646
Abstract: A refined oxidised cellulose (OC) material in various salt states having therapeutic treatments for skin. The micronized OC has a uniform particle size of the order of microns (0.001 to 0.050 mm). The OC is treated by further steps of oxidation, hydrolysis and refinement. The final product is chemically known as polyanhydroglucuronic acid, (PAGA). The salt versions of the OC are generally metal salts, such as sodium, calcium, zinc, copper, and silver.
