  • Patent number: 8939266
Abstract: A brake disc arrangement has a mounting portion formed of a metal, with a plurality of radial protuberances extending radially outward therefrom. The radial protuberances each have a radially distal tip portion, and a ceramic coating is applied to the radially distal tip portion of the radial protuberances. The brake plate portion is cast so as to surround the radially distal tip portions. However, it is isolated therefrom by the ceramic coating. At least some of the radially distal tip portions are formed of metal having a microstructure created by electrical discharge machining to increase dampening. A sand core within a core box holds the mounting portion in a predetermined fixed orientation. The molten metal is poured into the core box mold, and the metal brake plate portion is prevented by the ceramic coating from welding to any of the plurality of radial protuberances.

  • Publication number: 20110177098
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for modulating a ?-cell population using a TM4SF4 modulator or a modulator of a TM4SF4 homolog. More particularly, the invention relates, inter alia, to methods and compositions for generating, expanding, and maintaining a ?-cell population and treatment of diseases associated with the loss of ?-cells using a TM4SF4 modulator or a modulator of a TM4SF4 homolog.

  • Publication number: 20090313930
Abstract: Insulation sheeting (10) comprising two outer layers (11, 12) and a closed cell structure (13) bonded therebetween. The sheeting (10) is of a thickness which allows it to be disposed in a rolled configuration and also unrolled to assume a substantially flat configuration. The outer layers (11, 12) each comprises reinforced reflective aluminium foil. The closed cell foam structure (13) comprises flexible light gauge foam such as cross-linked LDPE foam. The outer surface of one of the layers (11, 12) is treated to provide some glare reduction while retaining heat reflective characteristics. Because of the closed cell structure (13), the insulation sheeting (10) can compress under load for fixing while still affording worthwhile insulation benefits. For certain applications, the insulation sheeting (10) may be perforated for air and water vapour permeability.
