Patent number: 11923175Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for utilizing a variable gain algorithm for adjusting a capacitor in an automatic radio frequency (RF) impedance matching network. The apparatus may operate in a closed-loop feedback control system, with one or more error signals driving the capacitors within the system. To achieve a critically damped control system response, multiple operating regions for the matching network and its constituent elements may be identified and a set of gains (e.g., different per region) may be applied to the error signals in the control system when operating in those regions. An operating region may be defined by characteristics of the input signals measured by the apparatus, calculated by the apparatus, or the state of the apparatus itself. These features may be arranged in a look up table (or determined by calculation) for the apparatus to use to determine the variable gains in the system.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 2021Date of Patent: March 5, 2024Assignee: COMET TECHNOLOGIES USA, INC.Inventors: Dean Maw, Anthony Oliveti, Keith Rouse, Gary Russell, Tigran Poghosyan

Patent number: 10896580Abstract: A gaming system and method which provides a community group event to a plurality of players at a plurality of the gaming devices in the gaming system. Each gaming device participating in the group event is associated with an individual group event eligibility timer. Such individual group event eligibility timers regularly decrement based on time and may increment based on one or more aspects of the player's gaming experience, such as wagers placed. If the individual group event eligibility timer associated with a gaming device participating in the group event lapses before the conclusion of a group event timer or mode, that gaming device is eliminated from the group event. Upon the conclusion of the group event, a group event award is shared amongst the players at the remaining or non-eliminated gaming devices (i.e., the gaming devices associated with individual group event eligibility timers with any amount of remaining time).Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2017Date of Patent: January 19, 2021Assignee: IGTInventors: Daniel J. DeWaal, Glen Keith Russell, Alexandria E. P. Sutich, Anthony J. Baerlocher, David H. Muir

Publication number: 20180040203Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to gaming systems and, more specifically, to gaming systems for use in casinos. Even more specifically, this disclosure relates to systems that enable one or more players, who wager on the outcome of a game, to actively participate in the game and one or more other individuals, who do not actively participate in the game, to wager on the outcome of the game. A gaming station and a wagering station may be incorporated into the same gaming console, with the wagering station positioned behind a portion of the gaming station that is to be occupied by an active participant in a game. Each gaming console may include a public display monitor that may provide passive participants in the game and passersby with a wide view of the game. Gaming consoles may be grouped together such that their public display monitors may collectively provide different portions of such a wide view of the game.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 2, 2017Publication date: February 8, 2018Inventors: Keith Winters, Stephen Steelman, Matthew Mahaney, Paul Steelman, Keith Russell

Patent number: 9786120Abstract: Embodiments of the invention allow a player to have a unique gaming experience, different than other players, even when playing on the same network. A game may span several gaming sessions. States of a game, for example a bonus game, may be stored when the player decides to stop playing the game. When the player initiates a next gaming session, at the same or another location, the previous state of the game is re-loaded onto the gaming machine and the player returns to the previous state. Further, additional bonuses can be implemented because the network knows the identity and other information about the player. The additional bonuses may be unique to that player. Messages particular to a player are exchanged between a gaming device and a gaming network.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 2016Date of Patent: October 10, 2017Assignee: IGTInventors: Glen Keith Russell, David Hollister, Scott Boyd, Richard J. Schneider, R. Jeffrey Jordan, Matt Glazier, Shannon Mason, Kevan Wilkins, Allan Legler
