The head includes a light emitting element comprising a plurality of solid state light emitting devices, an optical element, and a reflector configured to reflect light emitted by the solid state light emitting devices to the optical element to produce a light distribution pattern from the head. The light emitted from the solid state emitting devices may be Lambertian patterned light. The Lambertian patterned light may be used to illuminate the reflector. The reflector may be used to transform the Lambertian patterned light to collimated light and direct the collimated light towards the optical element. The optical element may be configured to produce the light distribution pattern from the collimated light.
