  • Publication number: 20230024681
Abstract: Polymer or polymer inks are used for reducing or eliminating harmful chemicals by offering a neutralizing chemical in the path of movement of the harmful chemicals. A neutralizing chemical responsive to the harmful chemical produces a harmless chemical as an output that is in the path of the harmful chemical and is opposite phase with the neutralizing chemical, preferably by 180 degrees, or is at least opposite in chemical compatibility to some extent. The neutralizing chemical can be suspended or combined with an inert carrier and preferably attenuates the harmful chemical concentration. The polymer ink can be applied to a media such as paper, (embossed or extruded) or polymer the same as paper but also in foam (open cell preferred) in order to obtain a decrease in the concentration of harmful gases. These forms can be utilized in air or liquid applications.

  • Publication number: 20220143538
Abstract: Method and systems for filtration of harmful particles are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a method for making a filtration system for use with a facial covering includes producing a liquid polymerized copper substate, creating a barrier layer by coating a filter media with the liquid copper substrate to coat the filter media with polymerized copper, and binding the barrier layer between two textile layers, wherein each of the two textile layers provides a tortuous path for particles to pass. A filtration system includes a barrier layer including a filter media coated with particulate copper and a polymer.

  • Publication number: 20210053325
Abstract: A barrier film substrate includes a first layer including a polymer and a transition metal having chemical sequestering properties such that, upon exposure of the barrier film substrate to one or more chemical vapors, a reaction occurs between the transition metal and the one or more chemical vapors. A second layer is aligned with the first layer. The second layer includes a polymer having impeding properties such that, upon the exposure of the barrier film substrate to the one or more of the chemical vapors, the second layer substantially blocks passage of the one or more of the chemical vapors through the barrier film substrate. One or more additional layers is aligned with at least one of the first layer or the second layer to provide structural support for the first layer and the second layer.

  • Publication number: 20110045218
Abstract: Harmful chemicals and/or organisms are neutralized or reduced in concentration by reaction with a protective chemical applied thinly as a coating on a surface facing the internal volume of an enclosure that can contain a product to be protected. The surface can be the inward surface of an enclosure or an included sheet or other item within the enclosure, optionally adhered to the enclosure or to the product. Exemplary protective chemicals include particulate copper and silver, especially as metal flakes, sized to correspond to the pigments in an ink. The protection is normally sufficient with about 10% of the particle surface area exposed, or in an enclosure that is incomplete or foraminous, a higher concentration can be employed or the protection can be shorter lived.
