Abstract: A front loading disk player comprising a play unit which is arranged inside the player housing and includes a turntable, a pickup, and a disk clamp mechanism, a disk holding unit for holding disks to be inserted through an insertion opening formed in the player, and a play unit transfer mechanism for moving the play unit to load it into the disk. The play unit transfer mechanism comprises a movable carrying member, arranged so as to be movable in parallel with the recording surface of the disk, for carrying the play unit; and a carrying member drive unit for moving the movable carrying member. As a result of this construction, the front loading disk player is not only extremely small in structure but also capable of containing and playing a plurality of disks properly and smoothly.
