  • Patent number: 6674232
Abstract: The present invention relates to a getter placement and attachment assembly for securing and placement of the getter along the major axis of a CRT. The getter placement and attachment assembly includes a getter spring for removably securing the getter to an internal magnetic shield affixed to the frame of the color selection electrode or mask frame of a CRT. The internal magnetic shield has sidewalls enclosures with a plurality of apertures therethrough along the major axis of the CRT to permit optimum deposition of a getter film within the CRT.

  • Publication number: 20030214215
Abstract: The invention provides a CRT having a funnel sealed at one end to a faceplate panel with a luminescent screen on an interior surface thereof, a mask assembly supported within the CRT and in proximity to the screen, the faceplate panel having a plurality of peripheral sidewalls each having an inside surface. The CRT also includes a plurality of studs, with at least one stud affixed in each of the corners of inside surface of the sidewalls. A plurality of springs engage the corner studs, to support the mask assembly within the CRT; at least one additional stud is affixed along the inside surface of one sidewall and a shim is attached around the additional stud. On the mask assembly at least one bracket is positioned to have a slot into which the shim is loosely engaged, thereby mitigating motion in a plane parallel to the interior sidewall.

  • Patent number: 6300712
Abstract: A color picture tube includes an evacuated envelope having a rectangular faceplate panel with two approximately parallel long sides, two approximately parallel short sides and four corners. The panel comprises a faceplate and a peripheral sidewall, and includes a shadow mask-frame assembly mounted therein by springs located at the four corners of the panel. The springs have apertures engaging studs that are located on the peripheral sidewall at the four corners. The panel includes additional studs on the peripheral sidewall located near the centers of at least one pair of approximately parallel sides of the panel. Brackets are located on opposite sides of the shadow mask-frame assembly at the locations of the additional studs. The brackets include slots therein. The slots are open on sides thereof facing the faceplate. The additional studs are positioned within the slots.

  • Patent number: 6188171
Abstract: A cathode-ray tube has an internal magnetic shield and at least one contact spring attached to the shield. The shield includes a land with an outer edge and an inner edge. The spring includes two portions, an improved clasp portion attached to the shield at the land, and a contact leaf portion. The improved clasp portion includes a flat body with a reverse bend hook at a first end, and a latch and a catch at an end opposite to the first end. The hook engages the outer edge of the land, and the latch engages the inner edge of the land. The catch includes a bent end portion that forms an acute angle with the remainder of the catch. The bent end portion is positioned to engage the inner edge of the land if the spring is rotated about the hook. The leaf portion is connected to and extends from the latch.
