Abstract: A vascular impedance measuring device may comprise a processing component capable of processing raw pressure and flow wave data and a pressure measuring component capable of providing pressure wave data from a specified point in a vessel and forwarding the pressure wave data to the processing component. The device may further include a flow measuring component capable of providing flow wave data from the specified point or a point near the specified point in the vessel and forwarding the flow wave data to the processing component. The processing component processes the raw pressure and flow wave data to produce an estimation of vascular impedance of the vessel from the specified point of measure and may provide data to a feedback system for therapy.

Abstract: A geothermal system with earth grounding component for providing electrical grounding is introduced. The geothermal system includes: a geothermal component configured to perform heat exchange; wherein the geothermal component comprises at least one heat exchange tube configured to extend into an underground environment; and an earth grounding component configured to provide earth grounding for electronic equipment; wherein the earth grounding component includes at least one conductive rod coupled to and extended along the at least one heat exchange tube, and the at least one conductive rod is configured to electrically couple to a grounding interface of the electronic equipment.

Abstract: A device for disaggregating crop field additives that have been aggregated due to conditions such as compression or moisture. The device comprises a series of spined rollers in parallel orientation extending across an open passage, the rollers rotated by a motor such that the spines can break apart the aggregates falling through the open passage before application of the additives.

Some module embodiments are configured to provide hermetically sealed enclosures that are convenient and cost effective to assemble and provide for active alignment of optical elements of the module.

Abstract: The application provides novel neuroactive fragments of human amyloid precursor protein (APP). The fragments include sequence from the A? region of APP but also extend upstream. The fragments are soluble in aqueous solution most bands are about 10 kDa and above and do not correspond with the expected molecular weight of a dimer or trimer. The fragments and subfragments thereof can be used as immunogens in methods of immunotherapy to treat Alzheimer's and other amyloidogenic diseases characterized by deposits of A? in the brain. Antibodies to the part of the fragment upstream from APP or the interface between A? and the upstream sequence can also be used in such therapeutic method. The fragments are also useful as markers, which can be detected for diagnosis or prognosis of disease or for screening agents.
