  • Patent number: 9799063
Abstract: Systems, apparatus, and methods are disclosed for accurately identifying one or more mobile thing motion activity (MTMAs; e.g., stationary, walking, running, biking, driving, etc.) associated with a mobile thing (MT; e.g., a person) using sensor data from one or more sensors associated with a wireless communication device (WCD) transported by the MT and for facilitating purchase of a good or service based at least in part upon the one or more MTMAs and one or more predefined user preferences. The sensor data from the one or more sensors (e.g., accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, etc.) is designed to produce data indicative of physical movement of the WCD in three dimensions of a three dimensional (3D) space. In some embodiments, the one or more MTMAs are a plurality of instances of the same MTMA (e.g., a plurality of running sessions) and the purchase of the good or service (e.g., new running shoes) is initiated when a total time duration or total travel distance exceeds a predefined threshold (e.g.

  • Patent number: 9702988
Abstract: A method for detecting both gamma-ray events and neutron events with a common detector, where the detector includes a layer of semiconductor material adjacent one side of a glass plate and a Gd layer on an opposite side of the glass plate, between the glass plate and a layer of silicon PIN material to form an assembly that is bounded by electrodes, including a semiconductor anode on one side of the semiconductor layer, a cathode connected to the glass plate, and a Si PIN anode on a side of the Si PIN layer opposite the semiconductor anode. The method includes the steps of: (1) monitoring the electrical signal at each of the semiconductor anode and the Si PIN anode, and (2) comparing signals from the semiconductor anode and the SI PIN anode to differentiate between gamma-ray events and neutron events based on predetermined criteria.

  • Patent number: 9661365
Abstract: Automated media programming (AMP) systems and methods are provided. In one embodiment of an AMP system, a computer server is communicatively coupled to the Internet and provides a website for enabling uploading of media content, sorting the media content, and downloading the media content. Independent users are permitted to submit, edit, rate, and consume media content over a broadcast media channel or network. In some embodiments of the AMP system, content on the Internet is automatically searched and topics from the searched content are automatically identified. The topics are preferably indicative of currently relevant news or events and are indicative of a type of media content that will be requested for uploading from producers. The AMP system publishes the topics to the producers, receives and stores media content uploaded from the producers that relate to the respective topics, and enable users to select and download the media content.

  • Publication number: 20170130554
Abstract: A method and apparatus for sealing and filling at least a portion of a well is disclosed. This may form a part of a well abandoning operation. In particular, according to the present disclosure, a tube containing well filler material is connected to a bridge plug by a tube-plug connector wherein the bridge plug can be positioned by moving the tube and then anchored. Once the bridge plug is anchored, the tube is disconnected and the well filler may be discharged into the well above the anchored bridge plug. In this way, the bridge plug anchoring and the filling of at least a portion of the well can be performed in a single run.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides, among other things, various systems and methods for battery remediation in connection with electric powered mobile things (EPMTs). A representative method, among others, is implemented in a computer system (EPMT-CS) associated with the EPMT and can be summarized by the following steps: monitoring electric power capacity (EPC) associated with locomotion of the EPMT; monitoring travel data relating to the EPMT; engaging in a communication session with a remote host computer system (H-CS) based upon the EPC monitoring; requesting assistance of a battery remediation station (BRS) during the communication session; communicating location information relating to the EPMT during the communication session so that the BRS can visit and remediate (recharge, repair, or replace) a battery associated with the EPMT. Upon receiving this information, the H-CS can contact and dispatch the BRS to visit the EPMT.
