  • Patent number: 7740350
Abstract: An imaging drum maintenance assembly that includes an oil applicator device, and an elastomeric metering blade spaced from the applicator roller and having a bulk resistivity that is less than about 500,000 ohm*meter.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 15, 2005
Date of Patent: June 22, 2010
    Assignee: Xerox Corporation
    Inventor: Kelly A. Kessler
  • Patent number: 7537333
Abstract: A system for applying a liquid to a support surface in an imaging apparatus comprises an application surface that applies liquid to the support surface; and a filter positioned in relation to the application surface such that liquid removed from the support surface passes through the filter to the application surface. The filter includes a low-friction, low-fiber shed permeable layer in contact with the application surface.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 9, 2005
Date of Patent: May 26, 2009
    Assignee: Xerox Corporation
Inventors: Kelly A. Kessler, Joseph B. Gault, Abu S. Islam
  • Publication number: 20070285486
Abstract: An ink jet printing apparatus that includes an intermediate transfer drum, a roller surface that applies a low-viscosity liquid to the imaging member to form an intermediate liquid transfer surface on the imaging member, and a printhead for jetting ink onto the intermediate transfer drum. The liquid has a viscosity lower than 50 centistoke for use as a transfer layer on an imaging member in an offset phase change ink jet printing device.
    Type: Application
    Filed: June 8, 2006
    Publication date: December 13, 2007
Inventors: W. Sean Harris, Kelly A. Kessler
  • Publication number: 20070146459
Abstract: A maintenance system and method for maintaining an imaging member of an imagining device includes a pre-cleaning device to clean the imaging member; an applicator to apply release agent to the imaging member; a metering device to meter release agent on the imaging member; a reservoir to remotely store release agent; and a pump to supply the applicator with release agent from the reservoir. The saturation level of the applicator is monitored and maintained within a predetermined range. The applicator, pre-cleaning device and metering device may be independently actuated to engage the imaging member. Release agent collected by the pre-cleaning device and/or metering device may be recycled. Debris collected by the pre-cleaning device and/or metering device may be stored and/or removed.
    Type: Application
    Filed: December 23, 2005
    Publication date: June 28, 2007
    Applicant: XEROX CORPORATION
Inventors: Joseph Gault, Abu Islam, Michael Gordon, Alexander Fioravanti, Kelly Kessler, James Campbell, Scott Phillips, Roger Leighton

  • Patent number: 7048369
Abstract: A drum maintenance unit (drum maintenance unit) to reduce build up of electrostatic charge within a printer device. The drum maintenance unit may have a static shield positioned to reduce the build up of an electrostatic charge and to act as a physical barrier by preventing discarded oil from becoming airborne and returning to the oiling roller unfiltered. The static shield may also be utilized to retain and house the filtration system of the drum maintenance unit thus reducing part count and manufacturing time.
