Patent number: 9481310Abstract: A vehicle storage structure has a box structure with a cargo compartment, a lid and a locking mechanism. The lid is movable between a lowered orientation covering the cargo compartment and a raised orientation exposing the cargo compartment. The lid has a first section and a second section connected to one another via a hinge. The second section is pivotally movable such that with the first section in the lowered orientation, the second section pivots between a retracted position overlaying the first section and an extended position defining a flat cargo receiving surface. The locking mechanism is fixedly attached to the first section of the lid and is configured to releasably lock the lid in the lowered orientation.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 2015Date of Patent: November 1, 2016Assignee: Nissan North America, Inc.Inventors: Michael Chawlk, Brian Shepard, Kelly Schlotterer

Patent number: 8789715Abstract: A collapsible container includes a bottom wall and a plurality of sidewalls. At least two of the side walls include a rigid first segment and a rigid second segment coupled to the first segment by a pivot to permit the side wall to fold so that the first segment and second segment form an acute angle or are parallel when the container is collapsed. The collapsible container can be configured in a storage configuration for containing objects or a collapsed configuration occupying less volume than the storage configuration for stowing the container.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 2008Date of Patent: July 29, 2014Assignee: Nissan North America, Inc.Inventors: Daniel Shea, Tomohito Hashikawa, Martin Petersen, Angelo Parisi, Hugh Francis, Kelly Schlotterer

Patent number: 7762601Abstract: A storage assembly for a vehicle includes a vehicle structure, a removable storage container and a container attachment member. The removable storage container is moveable between a retained position and a release position. The container attachment member is coupled to the vehicle structure, and the container attachment member is moveable between a first position and a second position. The container attachment member is configured to engage the storage container and retain the storage container in the retained position when the container attachment member is in the first position. The container attachment member is configured to be disengaged from the storage container for movement of the storage container between the retained and released positions when the container attachment member is in the second position.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 2008Date of Patent: July 27, 2010Assignee: Nissan Technical Center North America, Inc.Inventors: Daniel Shea, Tomohito Hashikawa, Martin Petersen, Angelo Parisi, Hugh Francis, Kelly Schlotterer

Patent number: 7686375Abstract: A vehicle window sunshade assembly includes a vehicle structure, a trim member, a sunshade and a close-out member. The trim member is dimensioned to at least partially cover the vehicle structure. The trim member also has a sunshade opening and attachment portions for coupling to the vehicle structure. The sunshade has an end supported by the vehicle structure. The sunshade is movable between a retracted position and an extended position such that in the extended position at least a portion of the sunshade extends through the sunshade opening. The close-out member is supported by the vehicle structure and positioned such that with the trim member installed to the vehicle structure the close-out member extends generally around the end of the sunshade to conceal an area behind the end of the sunshade from view through the sunshade opening.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2008Date of Patent: March 30, 2010Assignee: Nissan Technical Center North America, Inc.Inventors: Kelly Schlotterer, David She
