  • Patent number: 9215330
Abstract: The illustrative embodiments described herein are directed to a system, method, and apparatus for signaling a weather condition. In one embodiment, the system may include an optical network terminal. The optical network terminal may include a communication port adapted to be coupled to a fiber optic cable. The communication port may be further adapted to receive data that indicates a weather condition via the fiber optic cable. The optical network terminal may also include an output unit, in communication with the communication port, adapted to send a signal in response to the communication port receiving the data that indicates the weather condition.

  • Patent number: 8041299
Abstract: In order to enable several wearable devices to communicate with several communication devices over a range of types of networks simultaneously, the illustrative embodiments provide a communication base system and method of using that communication base system. The communication base system includes several network-side transceivers in which each transceiver is configured to communicate with a communication device, a set of user-side transceivers in which each transceiver is configured to communicate with a headset, and a communication path to provide communications between a network-side adapter and a user-side adapter. A processing unit coupled to the communication path is configured to process instructions, where the instructions enable communication between the headset and the communication device without the headset being associated with the communication device.

  • Publication number: 20090287411
Abstract: The illustrative embodiments described herein provide a method, apparatus, and computer program product for managing messages in a network data processing system. In one illustrative embodiment, the process receives input associated with a set of check-in policy settings for a user of a first communication device. The process generates a check-in policy using the set of check-in policy settings. The process initiates a prompt on the first communication device to perform an action on the first communication device in response to the check-in policy. The process also determines whether the action is performed by the user. The process sends a notification to a second communication device.
