Abstract: An adapter which enables nearly any smartphone or electronic device to be securely coupled to a holder for placing at a desired orientation on a support surface or tripod camera mount. The adapter may include first and second brackets slidably joined together with one another and moveable to expand away from, and contract toward, one another along an operating path. Each bracket may have a slider and a jaw that is generally orthogonal to the sliding portion. The jaw of each bracket may have a clamping face that makes an acute angle with the slider and is opposed to the clamping face of the other bracket. The clamping faces may be coated with a resilient, slip resistant material. A securement portion may be provided to allow the jaws to be set at a desired distance.
