  • Publication number: 20220184761
Abstract: A novel turbine motor spindle assembly for a spindle-mounted pneumatic tool, especially in a live tool environment is described. The novel turbine motor spindle assembly includes a manifold with a front end and a rear end. The manifold includes an air intake passage for receiving pressurized air. The pressurized air is directed axially through a drive shaft rotatably coupled to the front end. The pressurized air drives a turbine motor assembly and a drive shaft. The drive shaft is mounted inside a housing with self-lubricating. The turbine motor assembly includes tangential openings for expelling exhaust air therefrom. The turbine motor housing is mechanically coupled to the front end of the manifold with an exhaust air passage for directing exhaust air from the one or more tangential openings out through the rear end of the manifold. The combined overall length of the turbine motor spindle assembly is no more than 1.76 inches in length for live tooling applications.

  • Publication number: 20210069842
Abstract: A pneumatic spindle with coolant through to the cutting bit is described. The pneumatic spindle includes a shank with a shank first end (USMA). A rotary union housing that is adapted to rotatably couple to the shank. A floating rotary union seal is rotatably coupled to an internal passage of rotary union housing. The rotary union housing includes a second end formed with a threaded circular opening and the pneumatic spindle first end is threaded to rotatably join with the threaded circular opening of the rotary union housing. The floating rotary union seal includes a first end, a floating rotary union seal second end and a floating rotary union seal internal passage. The floating rotary union seal second end formed as a circular bearing surface, and the floating rotary union seal internal passage directs the coolant fluid between the floating rotary union seal first end and the floating rotary union seal second end.

  • Publication number: 20140018219
Abstract: Described is a novel spindle mounting assembly for use with a computer numeric controlled (CNC) machine, such as a drill tap machine. In one example an auto changer spindle mounting assembly includes a collar with a gas inlet. The collar defines a collar opening therethrough to create a passage between the first side of the collar with the second side of the collar. The collar further includes a passage in fluid communication between the gas inlet and through a nipple to the collar opening. The mounting assembly includes a manifold body with a gas outlet adapted to mate with the gas inlet of the collar, the manifold body defined a passage in fluid communications between, the gas outlet and a manifold body inlet. Also included is at least one extension bar, adapted to mechanically fasten to the manifold body to a computer controlled machine.

  • Publication number: 20130190153
Abstract: An apparatus and method for machining is provided. A mounting assembly for use with a spindle, a CNC machine, an auto changer device and an air supply line, can include a mounting collar and a mounting block. The mounting collar can have a collar body and a collar arm, where the collar body defines a collar opening and one or more grooves circumscribing the collar opening, where the one or more grooves each have a sealing element positioned therein, and wherein the collar arm has a collar inlet, a collar outlet and a collar channel to provide fluid communication between the collar inlet and the collar outlet. The mounting block can be connected to the CNC machine and can have a block inlet connected to the air supply line, a block outlet, and a block channel to provide fluid communication between the block inlet and the block outlet.
