  • Patent number: 7370541
Abstract: A torque detecting apparatus detects torque applied upon a torsion bar of an electric power steering apparatus, as two sensors, which have ratiometric characteristics and have the same characteristics, simultaneously detect the amount of torsion of the torsion bar. With a gain of one of the two sensors set to the positive polarity and a gain of the other sensor set to the negative polarity, a control circuit calculates the torque applied upon the torsion bar by multiplying a difference between detection outputs from the two sensors by a predetermined coefficient. A torque detecting apparatus which is capable of detecting the torsional angle of a rotation shaft, namely, torque applied upon the rotation shaft easily and accurately using two sensors is thus realized.

  • Patent number: 5788297
Abstract: A resin-made shock absorbing member for a vehicle used as a bumper bean of the vehicle and the like and the method for producing the same. The resin-made shock absorbing member for the vehicle is structured to include an elongated curved portion (20) having a hollow portion, and an attachment portion (30) for fixing to a vehicle body (11) to be united and thus continuously formed with the curved portion (20) at both ends in the longitudinal direction of the curved portion (20). By structuring the attachment portions (30) to have a hollow portion and a solid portion, at least extending in the longitudinal direction of the curved portion (20), attachment work can be carried out from the outer side of the vehicle, and the shock absorbing function can be ensured along the whole length of the member (10).

  • Patent number: 5574344
Abstract: A power steering apparatus for use in association with an electric motor, includes a switch circuit driven by a PWM wave signal which switches between one polarity and the other of the voltage developed across a motor-driving current detecting resistance synchronously with the PWM wave signal so as to detect the magnitude and direction of the motor-driving current, thereby controlling a duty cycle of the PWM wave signal in accordance with the detected motor-driving current. Thus, the motor steering touch and feeling is enhanced.
