    Abstract: An optical axis of a telephotographic camera for picking up an enlarged image of an iris is placed between guide unit for guiding a subject K into a range in which an iris image can be picked up and direction indication guide unit for indicating the direction in which the subject K is to be directed. If the subject K wears glasses, the face direction of the subject K is changed as indicated by the direction indication guide unit so that an image of illumination light from an iris lighting fixture on the lens, etc., of the glasses of the subject K does not overlap the iris image.

Therefore, in the case in which such a camera is used for a surveillance camera, the reliability of a monitoring system can be enhanced.

    Abstract: The iris image pickup apparatus includes a recess sinking in the direction of a sight line of a person to be authenticated, the recess provided on an outer panel covering the image pickup unit for picking up the iris image of a person, indicators arranged at the bottom of the recess, external indicators arranged on the periphery of the recess, and a controller for performing lighting control of the indicator as well as keeping the external indicators off in a period where the image pickup timing of the image pickup unit is overlapped. Since the external indicators are kept off during picking up the image, the sight line of a person to be authenticated does not move to the external indicators thus picking up an iris image without blurs.

    Abstract: In a monitor camera system comprising a monitor camera making 360-degree panning rotation and more-than 90-degree tilting rotation and a control unit for controlling the monitor camera, for masking a privacy zone in a picture taken by the monitor camera, the control unit sets mask data through the use of a contour parameter of a configuration of a mask zone for covering the privacy zone, while the monitor camera side holds the mask data to mask a portion of the picture with the mask zone defined on the basis of the mask data. According to this monitor camera system, since only a portion of the picture is masked with the mask zone, it is possible to protect the privacy from the picture taken by the monitor camera without impairing the monitoring function. In addition, since the monitor camera side holds the mask data, quick processing becomes feasible.
