    Abstract: An up-conversion laser unit in which a semiconductor laser of high output power can be used as a pump light source and the wavelength of up-converted laser light is suitable for display. The light of infrared wavelength is generated by the pump light source, the generated light being inputted into a Pr3+ up-conversion laser to up-convert there into red light by Pr3+ ion. The up-converted red light is inputted into, as a pump light source, a Tm3+ up-conversion laser, there being up-converted into blue light by the Tm3+ ion. Thereby, efficient up-conversion into blue light is made possible.

    Abstract: In order to reduce an induction problem, which might otherwise be caused by a higher-harmonic current leaking to the outside of an inverter device, with a simple construction, an inverter device casing and a heat receiving plate mounted thereon are insulated from each other, and the heat receiving plate and a filter capacitor in the power supply circuit are connected through a predetermined inductance. Since the higher harmonics current is bypassed to the filter capacitor through the resonance filter which is formed by of the electrostatic capacity in a switching element and the inductance, the induction problem can be reduced by simple construction.

    Abstract: A channel control system for a scattered loop type information transmission channel has posts that are linked in a single loop and are served both ways by the same loop. Each post consists of an A-system working in one direction and a similar B-system working in the opposite direction. A mode switch circuit switches between a relay mode for relaying the signal and a terminal mode for separating the A and B systems and returning the signal. Each system has a detection circuit for detecting a channel carrier signal OFF and a carrier ON-OFF signal transmission circuit and a monitor circuit for approach and circulation of the channel code. The mode switch circuit of a post which has detected a channel carrier signal OFF switches to the terminal mode and returns a carrier ON-OFF signal, while a post which has detected a carrier ON-OFF signal switches to the terminal mode and continues to issue a second carrier ON-OFF signal.

    Abstract: An improvement in the Czochralski single crystal growing of a rare earth-gallium garnet such as gadolinium gallium garnet according to which the single crystal boules of a relatively large diameter and outstandingly free from any crystal defects and inclusions are readily obtained. The improved method comprises keeping the melt of the oxide mixture formed in an iridium crucible for at least 15 hours in the molten state before crystal growing is started. It was also shown that addition of certain additive gases, e.g. water vapor, carbon dioxide and oxygen, to the gaseous atmosphere mainly composed of, for example, nitrogen, in which crystal growing was performed, in a limited proportion was effective to further improve the crystal quality and to decrease the particulate inclusions in the single crystal boules.
