  • Patent number: 8130713
Abstract: Credit based channel transmission scheduling (CBCTS) of packet data units (PDUs) on a downlink channel is provided based on priority, quantity, and timing efficiency. The CBCTS technique includes initializing a set of credit accounts with a set of credit values. Credit accounts are sorted to determine the account having the highest number of credits. An account is selected from the set having an associated PDU type that is ready for transmission and has a size that fits within a MAC block. The selected PDU is inserted into the MAC block. The cost associated with the inserted PDU is subtracted from the credits. The selected PDU size is subtracted from the MAC block size, and a determination is made as to whether there is free space remaining on the MAC block for insertion of additional PDUs. If so, another sort and search is performed prior to transmission on the downlink channel.

  • Publication number: 20070123274
Abstract: A wireless communications network (100) comprising a plurality of sites (102-114) each of which is served by a node (116-128), and said nodes (116-128) are connected with other elements of the network infrastructure. The network further comprises a plurality of mobile stations (130-134). At least one of said sites (102) has a first control channel and the remaining sites (104-114) do not have control channels, wherein said infrastructure is adapted, using said first control channel, to direct a mobile station (130-134) located in a site without a control channel (104-114) to a traffic channel.

  • Patent number: 6510538
Abstract: Data for transmission may be convolutionally encoded and punctured prior to transmission. The invention relates to a method and apparatus for decoding such data. In accordance with the invention, a table of error metrics is prepared when a given group (Gt) of n bits is received at a particular time (t). The error metrics (Mti) are calculated for comparisons of the n bits received with each possible permutation (Pi) of n bits. These error metrics (Mti) are placed in the metric table. Next a look-up table (Tt) is consulted which lists each state change (Sj) which the encoder could have undergone at the particular time (t) together with the permutation (Pi) of bits which would have been produced by the encoder for that state change. The look-up table (Tt) is particular to the puncturing scheme which the encoder uses at the particular time (t). The metric table is then used to add to the look-up table (Tt) the error metric (Mti) appropriate to each state change (Si) in the table (Tt).

  • Patent number: 6374108
Abstract: A cellular radio communications system comprises: at least one base station for broadcasting radio signals to mobile stations within a cell; a mobile station addressable using IP addresses; and a first controller in the cell of the cellular radio communications system, the first controller being adapted: (i) to receive a request from the mobile station that the cellular radio communication system assign to the mobile station the static IP address previously assigned to the mobile station outside of the cell; (ii) in response to the request from the mobile station, to check with a second controller associated with the location where the mobile station was previously registered that the static IP address has not been assigned to another mobile station; and (iii) to assign the static IP address previously assigned to the mobile station, outside of the cell, to the mobile station for use in the cell, if the static IP address has not been assigned to another mobile station.
