  • Patent number: 11515689
Abstract: A semiconductor laser module includes: an optical fiber that outputs a first laser beam to an exterior of the semiconductor laser module; semiconductor laser devices each including an emission portion that emits a second laser beam, an electrically conductive portion that supplies electric power to the emission portion, and a mount on which the emission portion and the electrically conductive portion are disposed; a mount base including mount surfaces that form steps; and an optical system that optically couples the second laser beams from the emission portions to an incident end face of the optical fiber. The mounts of the semiconductor laser devices are disposed on the mount surfaces. The semiconductor laser devices include an upper semiconductor laser device and a lower semiconductor laser device adjacent to each other in a step direction of the mount base.

  • Publication number: 20190319431
Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention provides a laser module having a longer average device life as compared to a conventional laser module. A laser module (1) includes: a plurality of laser diodes (LD1 to LD6) emitting laser beams; and an optical fiber (OF), the laser beams being caused to enter the optical fiber (OF), the laser diodes (LD1 to LD6) being arranged such that among light beams constituting return light emitted from the optical fiber (OF), a paraxial beam does not meet active layers of the laser diodes (LDi) at respective exit end surfaces of the laser diodes (LDi), the paraxial beam having been emitted from the optical fiber (OF) at an emission angle ? of not more than ?1 which is given by the following Formula (A): [ Math . ? 1 ] ? ? 1 = Arcsin ? ( NA ) 3 ? 2 ? ln ? ? 2 , ( A ) where NA is a numerical aperture of the optical fiber.

  • Patent number: 10073220
Abstract: Provided is an optical coupler configured to cause an NA of light, which exits a taper fiber, to be smaller as compared with a conventional optical coupler. A taper fiber has a high refractive index part which is provided inside a core of the taper fiber and which has a refractive index smaller than a refractive index ncore of the core. An exit end surface of each GI fiber is bonded to an entrance end surface of the taper fiber so that at least a part of the exit end surface of the each GI fiber overlaps with a section of the high refractive index part. A relative refractive index difference of the taper fiber is smaller than 0.076%.

  • Publication number: 20170170628
Abstract: A semiconductor laser apparatus includes: a semiconductor laser device that emits laser beam in a first direction; a collimator lens that collimates a component in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction among components of laser beam emitted from the semiconductor laser device; and a lens fixing block having a lens mounting surface perpendicular to a third direction perpendicular to the first and second directions. A first end portion of the collimator lens in the third direction is fixed to the lens mounting surface of the lens fixing block by a fixing resin, and a fillet is formed on each of two crossing surfaces in the first end portion fixed by the fixing resin.
