  • Patent number: 7796808
Abstract: A controller (101) designates whether images are integrated or not and image placement mode when integration is implemented. An image integrator (102) creates image data in a format designated by the presence/absence of integration and placement mode. A 3D information generator (103) generates 3D information necessary for 3D image display by formatting the presence/absence of integration and the placement mode. An encoder (104) encodes the image data created by image integrator (102) and generates coded data. A multiplexer (105) converts the encoded data generated by encoder (104) and the 3D information created by the 3D information generator into a predetermined format and outputs the result to the outside. This arrangement enables image data for 3D display to be versatile.

  • Publication number: 20100188489
Abstract: An image display unit, such as a projection-type image display apparatus, displays a first image and a second image, having a predetermined parallax relative to the first image, onto a predetermined display region by dividing the first image and the second image temporally or spatially. First eyeglasses are to be worn by a first viewer to see the first image and the second image displayed on the display region. Second eyeglasses are to be worn by a second viewer to see the first image and the second image displayed on the display region, and the second viewer faces the first viewer in a direction parallel to the plane of display. The first eyeglasses perform a function of having the right eye of the first viewer see the first image and having the left eye of the first viewer see the second image. The second eyeglasses perform a function of having the right eye of the second viewer see the second image and having the left eye of the second viewer see the first image.

  • Patent number: 7646907
Abstract: When “0” indicating that intensity of a stereoscopic effect is the lowest is applied as a stereoscopic effect tag, a stereoscopic image is allowed to be displayed as it is. On the other hand, when “1, 2, and 3” are applied as the stereoscopic effect tag, a reduction ratio is determined depending on a value of the stereoscopic effect tag (one-half, one-third, etc.). On the basis of this reduction ratio, the stereoscopic image is displayed and letters of “warning” are displayed. A user selects whether to display the stereoscopic image according to a producer's intention or to maintain the size-reduced stereoscopic image. If an operation requiring for a display of the stereoscopic image as it is intended by the producer is performed, an original stereoscopic image is displayed.

  • Publication number: 20090263007
Abstract: If horizontal viewpoint quantity information Nx and vertical viewpoint quantity information Ny are predetermined quantities, a value of the aspect ratio of the output image data to be finally output satisfies a predetermined condition, and a 3D identification mark is contained in the output image data, then an image recording device adds a first extension as general-purpose 3D image data which can also be used in a conventional device and records it. Accordingly, when 3D image data is output (displayed and printed) in a conventional device, image data which can be used as 3D image data (which can be viewed as a stereoscopic image) can be output as general-purpose image data while image data which cannot be used as 3D image data in the conventional device is not output as image data. This prevents a confusion of general users.

  • Patent number: 7605776
Abstract: This invention provides a stereoscopic-vision image processing apparatus, a stereoscopic-vision image providing method, and an image display method that are capable of managing specification of display unit on which a stereoscopic-vision image is desired to be displayed as accessory information (assumed display information). The assumed display information includes a type and a display size of the display unit on which a stereoscopic-vision image is desired to be displayed. This allows an appropriate stereoscopic-vision image to be obtained by specifying a type or a display size of the display unit that is desired to be displayed with them being combined with the stereoscopic-vision image and scaling the stereoscopic-vision image up or down, in display of a stereoscopic image, in accordance with the type or the display size of the display unit.

  • Publication number: 20090128622
Abstract: In 3D information creation means 102, 3D information including information on an image identifier and arrangement position of the image identifier is input from control means 101. According to the 3D information, which has been input, an identification mark is created and output together with the arrangement position information to image integration means 103. The image integration means 103 integrates a right-eye image and a left-eye image, which are input, and the identification mark according to the arrangement position information to create image data and outputs the same. Thus, an identifier indicating a stereoscopic image is provided in stereoscopic image data and observation is not disturbed when stereoscopically displayed.

  • Publication number: 20090109281
Abstract: A stereoscopic image processing method capable of preventing occurrence of undesirable cutout of image when a stereoscopic combined image is printed out is provided. A stereoscopic combined image can be created and recorded using a digital still camera 1. This stereoscopic combined image is a single image formed by arranging a plurality of view-point images. At first, left view-point image data and right view-point image data are stored in a memory by performing photographing twice. Then, the data of the two images are arranged laterally into a single image. Through this processing, original stereoscopic combined image data is created. Padding areas (dummy areas) are added to the original stereoscopic combined image data at the upper and lower sides thereof. Namely, a processed image containing the original stereoscopic combined image is created.

  • Patent number: 7518641
Abstract: By rotating a second camera (4) by a hinge (5) by 180 degrees so as to obtain an opening state, the second camera 4 faces a surface side. As a result, a first camera (3) and the second camera (4) are aligned horizontally, and use the same direction as a photographing range. When the second camera (4) is rotated, a system controller determines that a state is in a stereoscopic vision photographing mode. When a camera shutter is operated by a user, both the first camera (3) and the second camera (4) are allowed to perform a photographing process, and obtained two image data are stored in a memory after being attached to information indicating that the image is for the right eye and the image is for the left eye, and etc. Then, the two image data are transmitted by an e-mail function to a terminal of a communicating partner.

  • Publication number: 20080309755
Abstract: An operation unit switches the operating mode between a 3D display output mode in which the images of the 3D image file are displayed as a stereoscopic images and a 2D display output mode in which one of the images of the 3D image file is displayed as an ordinary planar image. The 3D image file is composed of stereoscopic image data which represents a plurality of monocular images constituting a multi-ocular stereoscopic image and information which is added to the stereoscopic image data and which indicates that the data is stereoscopic data. In the 2D display output mode, a control unit makes an output unit display an image of the 3D image file read from a medium by a media reader and also display a mark on the same screen, indicating that the image displayed in the 2D display output mode is based on the 3D image file.

  • Publication number: 20080198219
Abstract: A photographing apparatus has two binocular stereoscopic modes. In two-take photography mode, a 3D image file is generated from left and right monocular images acquired by performing monocular photographing twice, and the 3D image file thus generated is recorded. In one-take photography mode, a 3D image file is generated from left and right monocular images acquired by performing binocular photographing once, and the 3D image file thus generated is recorded. When the 3D image file is recorded, a homogeneity tag is recorded in 3D metadata, as tag information of the header data portion of the 3D image file. The homogeneity tag is information about the homogeneity of the two monocular images and describes whether the two monocular images have been acquired in the one-take photography mode in which monocular images highly homogeneous are provided, or in the two-take photography mode in which monocular images not so homogeneous are provided.
