  • Patent number: 5324066
Abstract: The posture of a vehicle is controlled using a specific variable damping force damper without the necessity of changing over the variable damping force damper frequently and at a high rate and without using a vehicle height sensor. A variable damping force damper U having at least two change-over modes including a mode in which the compression side damping force is soft when the extension side damping force is hard and another mode in which the compression side damping force is hard when the extension side damping force is soft is interposed between a vehicle body D and a wheel E. The variable damping force damper U is changed over by means of an acceleration sensor J mounted on the vehicle body D and a controller M including an integrator P for converting a signal from the acceleration sensor J into a velocity signal and a calculation processing circuit Q for outputting a changing over signal to the variable damping force damper U in accordance with the velocity signal from the integrator P.

  • Patent number: 4561524
Abstract: A damping force regulation device for a telescopic shock absorber causes all the hydraulic fluid to flow through a damping force adjuster (variable orifice) which is arranged in series with damping valves, both in expansion and contraction strokes of a piston. The diameter of the orifice is variable to control the damping force over a substantial range and thereby set up a damping characteristic optimum for each specific running condition. During the expansion stroke, a check valve of a base valve is opened to eliminate short suction which would otherwise result in cavitation or noise.

  • Patent number: 4491339
Abstract: A strut for McPherson type automobile suspensions wherein, in order to minimize the maximum bending stress occurring in the tubular member forming the cylinder of the liner type shock absorber, the knuckle bracket fitted to the lower end of the tubular member is formed by the first bracket with a U-shaped cross-section and the second bracket with a -shaped cross-section fitted in the opening part of the said first bracket and a ribbed part is formed beforehand by extending upward the upper end part of the said second bracket so that, by contacting the said ribbed part to the outer walls of the said tubular member, those parts which receive the maximum bending stress may be reinforced.
