  • Patent number: 6283451
Abstract: A hydraulic cable tensioning device having a main body and tensioning yoke formed from aluminum and being capable of delivering 5,000 psi to tension a cable bearing a barrel and wedge assembly such as in a mine roof bolt or a cable truss. The body defines a pair of cavities which each receive an elongated member bearing a piston which together act as dual action hydraulic cylinders. A cable receiving bore defined in the body receives a cable gripping member to grip the cable while the tensioning yoke pushes against the barrel and wedge assembly in response to forces from the hydraulic cylinders.

  • Patent number: 6270290
Abstract: A tensionable mine roof cable bolt having a resin grouted upper portion and a mechanical anchor. The cable bolt is rotated during installation in a mine roof bore hole to mix resin and engage the mechanical anchor with the rock. A drivehead press fitted onto the lower end of the cable may be stripped off the bolt upon tensioning of the bolt to a predetermined load.

  • Patent number: 6074134
Abstract: A tensionable mine roof cable bolt having a resin grouted upper portion and a mechanically anchored lower portion. The lower portion includes a shaft which is swaged to the cable and accepts a mechanical anchor. The cable bolt is rotated during installation in a mine roof bore hole to mix resin and simultaneously engage the mechanical anchor with the rock. A drivehead press fitted onto the lower end of the cable fails upon tensioning of the bolt to a predetermined load.

  • Patent number: 5769570
Abstract: A mine roof bearing plate having a planar member having a topside, an underside and an elastically deformable domed portion extended downwardly from the underside. A central section at the outer extremity of the domed section defines a bolt hole. The outer extremity of the domed portion includes a downwardly facing beveled annular bearing surface which mates with a spherical washer. A method of tensioning a cable bolt including the steps of placing a spherical washer over a first end of a cable bolt having a bolt head on the other end, placing the inventive mine roof bearing plate over the end of the cable bolt, inserting the cable bolt into a mine roof bolt hole, exerting pressure on the bolt head whereby the bolt head presses on the spherical washer and elastically deforms the domed portion, installing the cable bolt in the bolt hole and releasing pressure from the other end of the cable bolt whereby the domed portion substantially reforms to its original configuration to exert tension of the cable bolt.
