Abstract: A magnetically actuated reciprocating motor utilizes the stored energy of magnets, particularly rare earth magnets, to reciprocally drive a piston in a cylinder chamber. The piston connects to a converting mechanism, such as a crankshaft having a first and second output shaft, to convert the reciprocating motion of the piston to rotary motion for powering a work object at the second output shaft. The first output shaft operatively connects to and rotatably drives a controlling mechanism, which attaches to a magnetic switching device having a magnetic fixture comprising one or more magnets that magnetically engage a piston magnet associated with the piston. In response to the operation of the controlling mechanism, the magnetic switching device pivots or rotates the magnetic fixture to change the polarity directed at the piston magnet in order to attract or repel the piston, rotate the crankshaft and operate the controlling mechanism.
