    Abstract: Provided is a navigation assistance device capable of obtaining an obstacle zone by target in consideration of an allowance. A navigation assistance device for obtaining an obstacle zone by target from a relationship between an own ship and a target ship includes a margin acquisition unit that acquires a margin indicating the degree of allowance, and an arithmetic unit that obtains a margin position which is a position separated from at least any of the bow or stern of the target ship in a target occupied space set with reference to the position of the target ship by a distance determined according to the margin, obtains a collision course based on a position determined according to the motion vector of the target ship with reference to the margin position, and calculates the obstacle zone by target based on the obtained collision course.

    Abstract: An image synthesis system comprises a volume memory for accumulating entire volume data after being divided into cubic data comprising units each of which is composed of eight pieces of volume data for constructing a small cube to make it possible to perform memory operation by using the units of the cubic data; an image processing unit including a memory control unit, an inclination calculation unit, a brightness calculation unit, a synthesis calculation unit, and a coordinate conversion unit; an image display memory; and a display unit. The volume data is read from the volume memory by using the units each of which is composed of eight voxels for constructing the small cube. The inclination calculation is performed by the inclination calculation unit, the brightness is calculated by the brightness calculation unit, and the synthesis calculation unit is used to perform the synthesis calculation for the entire volume data along voxels through which an arbitrarily set imaginary line of sight passes.

    Abstract: Ray casting method is performed using a hardware. Ray casting is performed on a 3D object formed in a three-dimensional array of voxels, luminance information is generated for each unit ray path based on voxel information assigned to the voxels on the ray path, and an image related to the 3D object are generated based on the luminance information. At this time, pattern information representing a pattern of the ray paths is previously stored in a branch point table memory. A memory control section determines ray paths for generating the luminance information based on the pattern information.
