  • Patent number: 5138384
Abstract: An electrophotographic copying machine includes a mouse connected to a main unit to input positional information for editing. When the mouse is moved on an original for editing, pulses are generated from the mouse according to a rotation of a roller, which are counted by a counter of a microcomputer. A count value of the counter is utilized as positional data. In order to display a copy quantity, there is provided a segmental display. In the editing mode, a predetermined segment of the segmental display is selectively lightened so as to display the states of sequential position designations by the mouse. Therefore, it is possible to visibly confirm the state of the position designations for editing.

  • Patent number: 4796052
Abstract: An electrophotographic copying machine comprises a mouse which is connected to a main unit by a connecting cord and is for inputting positional information for editing. The mouse has a roller whose peripheral side surface is exposed from a case. When the mouse is moved while the peripheral side surface of the roller is brought in contact with a surface of an original, pulses are generated from the mouse attending on rotation of the roller, and these pulses are counted by a counter of a microcomputer. The counted value of the counter is utilized as positional data for editing by the microcomputer. Based on that positional data, the microcomputer partially and selectively lightens of a plurality of LED elements constituting a LED array. Therefore, an electrostatic latent image on a photoreceptor-drum is partially erased so that "masking or "trimming" of an image in an area defined by the positional data is executed.

  • Patent number: 4645328
Abstract: An apparatus for scanning an original includes a light source which is supported by a carriage movable in a scanning direction. A shield member is formed on the carriage. A first photointerrupter is provided at a home position of the carriage and a second photointerrupter is provided to a moving direction therefrom. When a forward going of the carriage is started from the home position and continued by a distance corresponding to the size of paper and/or the copy magnification, the light source is turned off and the carriage starts a returning movement. During the returning movement, the carriage travels further as far as the prescribed distance after the second photointerrupter being shielded by the shield member, thereafter a braking is applied on the carriage.

  • Patent number: 4564288
Abstract: An electrostatic recording apparatus such as an electrophotographic copying machine includes a mobile light source being able to move reciprocatively and exposing an original copy at its forward going motion. Reflected light from the original copy exposed by the light source produces an image on a photosensitive drum through an image-forming lens, and an electrostatic latent image is formed on the photosensitive drum. This electrostatic latent image is developed with a toner to form a visible image, and the toner image is transferred onto a paper fed from a paper feeding part. Papers of different sizes can be fed from the paper feeding part, and in response to this paper size, data such as moving speed and moving distance of the light source are read from the ROM, being given to a motor controller. As a function of the paper size, different returning speed data are set in advance, and accordingly, the light source can return at a speed responding to the paper size.

  • Patent number: 4531823
Abstract: An electrophotographic copying machine includes a photosensitive drum on which an electrostatic latent image is formed, a developing apparatus for developing the electrostatic latent image into a toner image, a transferring apparatus for transferring the toner image to a copy paper supplied from a paper supplying portion, a fixing apparatus for heating the copy paper having the toner image transferred thereto to fix the toner image, and a paper ejecting roller for ejecting the copy paper having the toner image fixed thereto to the exterior of the machine body. The copying machine elements are arranged so that the copy paper transporting path from the paper supplying portion to the paper ejecting portion is divided into two assembly units, the assembly units which can be removed from respective predetermined attached positions toward the exterior of the copying machine body in a direction opposite from each other and parallel to the transporting direction of the copy paper.
