  • Patent number: 5448899
Abstract: A refrigerant evaporator for a refrigeration cycle which separates a refrigerant of a two-phase gas and liquid state introduced from a pressure reduction means into a liquid refrigerant and a gas refrigerant by a gas and liquid separation means and distributes at least the liquid refrigerant to a plurality of refrigerant passageways of a heat exchange portion by a distribution means such as a tank. The distributed refrigerant has a single phase such as a liquid refrigerant and therefore the distribution is uniformly and equally carried out, the efficiency of the evaporator becomes higher, and the size can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 5394710
Abstract: A refrigerant receiver of elongated pipe 4 shape arranged in front of a refrigerant condenser 3. The receiver is of a dimension matched to that of the condenser, and has an inlet 34 for connection with the condenser section 13 and an outlet 38 for connection with a supercooler section 14. The receiver has inclined pipe portions 35 and 37 having inclinations to the horizontal direction, between which a bent portion 36 is arranged. No bubble is created in the refrigerant in the receiver irrespective of large values of the inclination of the receiver, thereby allowing only the liquid phase refrigerant to flow into the supercooler 14 from the outlet of the receiver 4.

  • Patent number: 5309731
Abstract: An air conditioning apparatus for an electric car capable of preventing condensation from forming on windshields, while decreasing electric power consumption. A duct forms therein a first passageway connecting an inside air inlet 8 with a lower outlet (foot outlet) 10 for discharging an air flow toward a lower part of a passenger in a cabin, and a second passageway for connecting an outside air inlet 11 with a defroster outlet 12 for discharging an air flow toward an inside surface of a windshield. A heat exchanger(s) is (are) arranged in the duct to make contact with the flow of air in the first and second passageways so as to heat the flows of air therein. The inside air after being heated by the heat exchanger is discharged from the lower outlet 10 to the cabin, while the outside air after heating is discharged from the defroster outlet 12 toward the windshield.

  • Patent number: 5224358
Abstract: A modulator in a coolant recirculation line for a refrigerating apparatus. The modulator is used for storing an excess amount of the coolant recirculated in the system. The modulator has a space extending vertically, upward and a bottom end connected to the recirculating line at a position downstream of a condenser, in such a manner that only a part of the coolant passed through the condenser is introduced into the modulator to compensate for variations in the amount of coolant needed for recirculation in the system. The modulator can be arranged in the middle of the heat exchanger, and defines therein a boundary between the liquid phase and the gas phase, for a separation of the gas from the coolant, so that the portion of the heat exchanger downstream of the modulator can operate as a super cooler.

  • Patent number: 5205156
Abstract: A device for providing a signal warning of a clogging of a dust filter. A pair of air flow speed sensors A and B are arranged downstream of two sections of a dust filter 1 arranged in an air duct 1, and the outputs of the sensors A and B are connected to a comparator 6 having an output connected to a warning device 7. An obstacle 3 is arranged upstream or downstream of one section of the filter 1. When the filter is new, the speed of the air flow detected by the sensor B without an obstacle is higher than that detected by the sensor A located downstream of the obstacle, but the speed of clogging at the section without an obstacle is much higher than that at the section located downstream of the obstacle, and thus, after continuous use, the air speed detected by the sensor B becomes equal to that detected by the sensor A. The values of the detected speeds are compared to determine a degree of clogging of the filter, and to issue a warning signal when needed.

  • Patent number: 5159820
Abstract: An oil separator used in a refrigerating system. The oil separator comprises a body for forming a centrifugal oil separating chamber and an oil storage chamber, with a separating plate dividing the chambers. An inlet passage is connected tangentially to the oil separating chamber, to cause a swirl in the chamber, and a medium outlet passage extends inwardly from an end wall into the oil separating chamber. An oil outlet passage(s) is provided in the separating plate at a position near a periphery thereof. The oil separator body is formed integrally with the compressor housing and a ring member is fitted in an inner surface of the oil storage chamber, and a helically shaped narrow groove is provided on the outer surface thereof to form an oil returning passage. Also, the oil outlet passage can be provided in the separating plate at a position lower than a highest level of the oil storage chamber, thereby allowing the chambers to be arranged in a horizontal side by side relationship.

  • Patent number: 4998413
Abstract: A refrigerant recovery system has a refrigerant recovery vessel which is connected to a refrigerant-recovered refrigeration circuit. A gaseous refrigerant in the refrigerant-recovered refrigeration system is sucked into the refrigerant recovery vessel due to the difference between the pressure in the refrigerant-recovered refrigeration circuit and the refrigerant recovery wheel. The refrigerant recovery vessel is cooled by a refrigeration circuit provided in the refrigerant recovery system, so that the sucked gaseous refrigerant is a liquified. to the refrigerant recovery vessel, a recovery tank made of a cartridge type is connected. The liquefied refrigerant from the refrigerant recovery vessel is sent to the tank. When the temperature of the recovery tank is not low enough, the liquefied refrigerant sent into the tank is evaporated and then returns to the refrigerant recovery vessel so that the refrigerant is liquefied in the vessel again.
